I'm thinking -- since I'm getting my stripes painted next week, perhaps I should think about adding something to my white since my Vista Blue is so metallic?? Not sure what to add - can/do people add whatever that is in pearl that makes it look that way (or is it just in that color?)?
Since I'm going to get this super show car finish I'm thinking I want to make sure I put on there what will look best... I love the blue/white combo but I saw this pearl colored SUV today and thought...

Any suggestions??

Joe

Hey, congrats on getting ready for the stripes. I'm partial to plain Performance White, but the pearl white would make the stripes really pop in the sunlight. Either way, it will look fantastic. I guess it all comes down to how you want the stripes to look? Does the pearl paint cost any more than standard white? I ask as the pearl paint that Ford has on the Explorer Limited is the only color that they charge for (excluding of course the Ford GT). The thing with pearl colors, is that the Ford color has to be applied ini 3 stages, to get the depth of color, that pearl always gives.

Here's my Sonic Blue with Performance White and with Pearl added to the paint. Mostly at night under the lights, is the pearl really evident. Kinda like it is frosty or electric blue as it passes under the street lights.

Thanks for the help. What kind of extra charge was there to get the pearl laid down in the white? My painter told me that he puts some "pearl" in the white paint to get the effect. No extra charge he says?

Mine didn't charge me either, but I always in there getting something done. I did have applied to another car and the pearl cost me only 25 bucks extra. Minimal cost!

Currently my stripes are vinyl and are Pearl White. When they get painted on in a few weeks I will still be sticking with Pearl white. I like the difference it makes in the stripes when the light hits it at different angles.

Check into this. My 97 T-Bird's paint was an optional "Crystal White Tricoat Metallic" That would look good!
