definitely powdercoating, it will never chip. Of course powdercoating is more expensive, but that factor is up to you.

+1 for powdercoat especially if you are going to drive the vehicle much. Most places don't charge much for powdercoating items like this. I would guess you could get it done between $100 - $300 depending on the complexity of the wheel. A set of Razors was estimated for $150 to get powdercoated black.

really depends on the end look you want? you can do some cool candies with paint that you cant with powdercoat, but you can some pretty sweet metallic looking finishes from powedercoat that you cant with paint, if you are going with just a normal solid color then I guess it doesnt really matter either way, powdercoat would be nicer, more durable but cost a little bit more

rrobello, do you know anywhere to get wheels powdercoated in San Diego? I bought a set of saleen PJ wheels, and I want to either go with gunmetal or black.

dont know the NAMES of any shops in SD, although I do know there are a few in Cbad/Oside areas. However I do know that Ed at SW Customs can do them and if youd like I can take them up for you and bring them back on one of my several trips up that way, although unless I can barrow my friends truck I might have to make it two trips. They are 20s?

no they are 19's. Yeah let me know what kind of pricing it would be for stangwerks, I am interested in the powder coating. That would be sweet if you could take them up there...I managed to get all 4 in the car but it was a PITA. looking for a dark grey/gunmetal with a metallic, much like the stock color of the 17" bullits. I have a white car.

actually just a thought after I get the pricing and if you do decide to do so then Monday would be perfect because I am taking my car up to get worked on and will have a friend following me up so taking all 4 would be easy, but if not no worries we will figure it out

Most, if not all Painted Aluminum OEM Wheels get powder coated as well. There is no difference in cleaning them.
But, just because a wheel is powder coated doesn't mean its invincible. Over time, the clear coat can flake off and aluminum wheels start to pit.
If you garage your vehicle and do not run it in the snow & salt, the wheels will last a very long time.

Overall, powder coating is a very good process and Alcoa is even using a process called "Durabrite" on wheels such as the Shelby GT500KR, Shelby GT500 Super Snake.

All I know is that I wouldn't feel safe knowing that I had painted wheels that didn't have some kind of coating over them. I would make sure first before purchasing them.
There are several powder coaters in Ohio.
