Paint Costs

Hey I'm thinking of doing a GT500 conversion with a Trufiber Venom II hood.

I was curious as to how much everyone on here has paid to get the front & rear bumpers, hood, and spoiler painted?

Nothing special just OEM quality Mineral Gray.

Well in California at the shop that I use it would probably be around $1500 to 2000 based on the amount of prep. The color shouldn't make any difference.

Holy crap. I was quoted 3500-4k to change the color of the whole car by a good shop over here. 2k is a little much. Is the hazard and cleanup a lot there?

I would be very cautious about a full color change costing only 4,000. What type of prep and post sprawy work is being done on the car at that price?

When I had a front end conversion and paint done on my 2002 GT the cost for the job ran right around 1500 to install a pumper, paint it and a hood and blend to the fenders. That was in 2002 money.

2 1/2 years ago when I had my 1969 Firebird painted, the body shop soda blasted the car, primed and hand blocked it, sprayed with an OEM PPG 2 stage paint and color sanded the finish. This would be a typical "OEM" style paint job in quality and finish. Not a show finish but what you would expect to see on a brand new car.

Total cost with labor and materials was about $7500.00

Unless the shop that is quoting you is basically just going to haze the original paint with a scotchbright pad then prime and paint over it with little to no prep, that 2-4k is VERY low for paint.

You might find yourself having to do a repaint again in a couple years.

Costs are all area specific. In California all the costs are very high, and good work is hard to find, but the environmental fees will kill you!
