Opinions Wanted!

I ordered a set of the 2007 GT/CS side scoops for my car. They have 2 pins on the scoops that require drilling into the car in order to mount them. I believe that these can probably be mounted just using the two-sided sticky tape to avoid drilling the holes. I think the factory drills the holes for mass production alignment purposes rather than actually needing them for attachment. What do you think?

My opinion would be to NOT drill holes. Sand/grind the pins off.

Drilling doesn't bother me when it's necessary (like on my Roush scoop and CDC ducktail) but I didn't think this was necessary. It looks like we all agree.

To get an idea of just HOW sticky the 3M double sided tape is, that is used to hold emblems and body parts on, try to take the factory GT emblems off. I took mine off and replaced them with the tribar ponies. I got a LOT of repsect for that tape.I had a heck of a time just trying to wedge a plactic credit card in behind that tape to try and take it off. I would say if applied properly, it should easily hold any body part on the car, from chin spoiler, to duct tail spoiler , you name it. Its that tuff!!!

Fishing line with a sawing motion works wonders for future reference

Leave the scoops off .....

The clean lines of the Mustang is the main reason I liked the S197 when it first came out in 2005. I wished the Shelby GT500 hood had no scoops !!
DO NOT DRILL !!! ITS A CRIME TO DEFACE A WORK OF ART.

The GT500's scoops are needed to release the pressure in the engine. Remember the first race of the FR500C?

....

May I suggest returing them and getting the quarter window scoops or louvers. IMO side scoops don't look good on the S197.

Sorry Leo but I could not disagree more, the quarter scoop look great. The more I see them the more I love them. I will agree that the window scoops look good also, I would add both. I have a vert and I will be installing the quarter scoops very soon.

Just my opinion.

I don't care for the quarter window scoops or the rear louvers but that's what makes the world go round!

The window scoops I think look great are the 3D Carbon scoops, I do not like the louvered scoops personally. I like the 3D Carbons' because they have that "Eleanor" look to them.

Rich, just go with the tape.

A year or two from now, you may change your mind about the styling. And as mentioned, you're just a fishing line away from a new look.
