New Wheels: Razors, Staggered offset. **Pics**

So for one thing I will say this, I was not trying to get a staggered offset of these rims but hey, one mans burden becomes everyone elses asset.

OK well, after a year of trying to get the Shelby version of these wheels to go with my body kit and having to put them on hold again 2 months ago, I came across a great deal on the regular American Racing +24mm version and pulled the trigger. My stock tires where beyond shot and I couldn't wait anymore so I got the AR version however there was a big mistake.

I ordered 4 +24mm, got them and had 255/35/20's mounted for the front and 275/35/20's for the rear. After seeing numerous pics and 2 cars live with this staggered tire setup I went with it. After it was done I noticed the left side rear was out much further then the right, in fact the right was tucked under the fender so I assumed it was because my rear was out of alignment from the lowering springs. Last night after work I put the rear up and went to work on the panhard bar and after several minutes of cranking turns into that thing the rear didn't seem to move over at all. I said hell with it, I'll have Steeda look at it Monday when I get the alignment done. So I proceed to wash the car and I notice that the front wheels look different. The right side front looks like it is sticking out a little further then the left front. I immediately start to loose my happiness as I now know what's wrong. 2 of the wheels are 40mm offsets and 2 are 24mm offsets. To make matters worse one of the 40mm's was on the front and on the other side it was on the back. I quickly jacked the car up and took off the 2 right sides and saw on the inside of the rims they were indeed different. I tried calling the eBay seller but it was to late in the day and will have to wait until Monday.

I try to get over it and this morning went back to the tire shop and had the right side changed so the 24mm was on the back, matching the left side. Well, I must say after looking at them for a day now I am starting to like it. Not only are the tires staggered but with the rims staggered as well to me it makes the rear tires look even fatter then they really are. I still am not 100% sure I am totally happy with it yet but I am getting there. I will see Monday what the seller can do for me considering the boxes where labeled wrong and the wheels are already on the car.

Anyway, here are some pics I took today.

The setup is as follows
Front: +40mm offset (6.5 backspacing) Razors. 255/35/20 Nitto Extreme 555 ZR
Rear: +24mm offset (6.0 backspacing) Razors. 275/35/20 Nitto Extreme 555 ZR

OK, to the naked eye out of the box it is near dam impossible telling the difference between the offset since they are all 20X9.

Now the final result.

I'm kinda liking it. It makes the back look meaty as hell which is a good thing. Looks old school to me

Great pictures!

I agree, it gives an old school look and I think it looks cool. The main thing is, if YOU like the look, stick with them.

+1...If you don't have any clearance issues and the car doesn't track it may good to go.But if it really looks odd to you could have to save up and get the right offset(a pair) that looks right.I hate to hear of an e-bay deal gone bad.

Thanks guys. Well it's funny you mention "old school". The reason I went with the Shelby CS8 body parts and style was because my intentions for the car was to keep it modern looking while giving it an old school muscle car look and the staggered offset helps that.

Not sure the seller is going to be able to do anything but I will try anyway. Even if he can send me the the right rims and a discounted price would be good. There shouldn't and hasn't reall been any issue with them tracking because they are all 20x9 but I suppose in a worse case senerio I could get a couple wheel spacers for the front to get them more inline with the rear.

Does anyone know if having the different offsets will for sure cause an issue? I will eventually run this car on a road course but not with these wheels.

Thanks.

I think it looks mean as hell!! I say keep them that way but make sure you are happy with them first because you are the one who has to drive the car everyday and live with it. I would think driving with different offsets should be fine because alothe foxbodys run weld skinnies in the front and drag rdials in the back. Should be the similar just a smaller tire in the front???

Yea the tores are 255's front and 275's rear. I wasn't planning on rotating to begin with so no sweat in that part. Will have to see come tomorrow how I feel. I do like it more and more when i look at it.

I like the staggered look, too. If it were me, I'd just ask the ebay seller to refund 50 or 100 bucks and call it even. He should accept that offer. Otherwise he'll have to ship 2 wheels to you and receive 2 used wheels back.

If he's a jerk about it, report him to ebay as misrepresenting his products!

I like it. I really like it. The only drawback I can see is staggered offset will not allow you to rotate your tires. But then again, with staggered tires you won't be doing that anyway.

+1 to that. The car looks good, just see if you can get some money back on the deal.

Looks GOOD, maybe you have started a new trend with the 24&40 offsets. I have the 40 offsets on all 4 corners. Look at the difference.

Maybe, that's why I said "one mans mistakes are another mans advantage". Everyone gets to see what it looks like.

Yours looks sweet as well and I did in fact convince myself to go with +40mm a couple months ago but that order fell through as well. What I had planned to do with the +40mm on the rear was put in 5 or 10mm spacers on the rear to push them to the edge. It will give you the same look as I have but you can control how far out the wheel goes by the thickness of the spacer.

spacers scare me... I've heard horror stories. I would avoid like the plague. No point in adding rotational mass.
