DRL Compatability

Are these compatible with the Daytime Running Light setup in Canadian vehicles?

That's still to much. $300-$400 is what I would pay. At the end of the day all you get are lights no HP.

True but all the ones in that price range are just for the bulbs, relays etc and not a true HID housing. At least from what I see doing a quick google search.

The 1k for a completely OEM setup doesn't sound too bad in THAT context. I guess you could buy those Chinese HID setups for a lot cheaper but as other posters have said, you most certainly get what you pay for! (flickering lights, no high beams, funky wiring, illegible instructions, dodgy assembly, no warranty...)

Also consider that on a NEW car Ford gets $800 for them. Another $200 for a "retail" setup isn't too bad.

If you want to be in the "real" HID club you have to pay, unfortunately...

Actually I checked the Ford site today, The HID option on a new GT is $525, so a grand is basically double, and you know Ford keeps a very tidy profit margin built into option pricing to start with. Overpriced.

$1000 does not sound bad if its plug and play.

How about the factory warranty ??? Would be nice if ford cover them.......... (like the ford accessory's)

Expect to pay Ford an additional 5-10% on most factory available options purchased after delivery (excluding body parts). Plus you have to install it. At $525 list when ordered from the factory Steeda’s are overpriced, like the Saleens. Ford won't offer them as an accessory since they are not DOT legal on anything but a 2008.

A lot of people have had issues with $100-$300 bulb/ballast replacements since the ballast draws less power, lots of flickering issues. Get the Ford part # for the HIDs and use a resister if needed to fool the SJB

Buy the way does anyone have the Ford part number(s) for the HIDs?

Ford aftermarket parts are always more expensive then when you get them on the car. Take an 18" Bullitt wheel. 2 of them will cost you what you paid for the entire set when you ordered the car.

One other thing to keep in mind why it's cheaper when you order OEM from the factory, Ford uses one less set of halogen headlight buckets on your car that will be used on a non-HID car.

I'd also love the HID's, did anyone get a response about a group buy? Just want to be sure that I was not missing anything. They look great on the 08's just kills me to have to spend that much.

Any pics of these on a car. I would like to see how they look at night... $600-700 would be a more realistic price for me

Paul, you can't get the HID's bu themselves on a GT for only $525. You MUST order them with the Active Anti-Theft at $325 as well to get the HID's. So that is a total of $850! $995 isn't bad after the fact.

I can't buy the HIDs separately from Ford for less than the Steeda kit. $1000 is a great price for the kit, but still pricey.

The Ford factory order option costs are almost always LESS than what you'd pay to retrofit it separately.

Here are the benefits of HIDs over halogens:
1). Longer lifespan (2500-5000 rated hours vs 1000 hours)
2). 4100K color temperature, which is a white light with some yellow in the fringes. After a few months of using 4300K HIDs on another car, I am sold on 4100K HIDs.
3). The capsules produce 3 times more light than the bulbs (but the headlamp assemblies limit the light output as per the FMVSS regs)

If you are interested you can PM me and I can work something out for Forum members. These kits are pricey for some but they are less than if you bought them directly from your Ford dealer. They are quality OEM components with a correct wiring harness for retrofit which is not available from your Ford dealer.

$525 is the option if purchased with the car. Over the parts counter is more, and without the anti theft.

Our supplier, who manufactures them for Ford currently has no plans for a GT500 kit.
