New Emblems

Ive got some Mustang side fender emblems that I bought a while ago and want to install them on my car. I want them to go where the standard GT emblem would be on a 2005+ GT Mustang. Whats the best way to go about getting them straight and set in the right position? Any tips on how to measure to make sure they are in the right spot?

They fit into the two holes left by removing your original emblems. Also...those holes will keep the empblems in the correct position.

I didnt have any original emblems there. My car is a V6 not a GT so I didnt have emblems to begin with. Also the new emblems I have dont have pins, only 3M tape to stick them on with.

Interesting. I thought the only S197's without emblems were the Bullitts. I guess you learn something every day. I took my GT emblems off and installed the tribar ponies (V6) emblems. Maybe someone with the same issue will respond for you. I would just measure someone else's as a reference. Good luck.

Measure where you want them, then hold them in place w/ clear tape until you get it exactly where you want. Once you've figured out just where you want them, take a piece of masking tape and put it directly under them emblem, and off to one side acting as a carpenters square. Then remove the adhesive backing and carefully align the emblem to the tape square you made and stick on on gently. Remove the masking tape and visually double check it's placement. Press it hard into place and you're done.
I can't believe it took that many words to explain this.

s197 v6, i hear you. that kind of stuff drives me nuts too.

anyways i would say to first make sure your car is on level ground... get one of those auto-leveling laser levels. that way, guaranteed it will be straight.... plus that level can come in handy for other household projects.

as far as where to put them.... i would say just look at photos of other people's cars and give your best guestimate. where ever you decide to put one side on, measure it, so that the other side will be at the exact same location. of course, if you can do actual measurements on a car with the emblems, that would be even better.

anyways, that is my suggestion. good luck.
