OR...you could get another one to switch back and forth depending on your mood

any of the real fire colors would look good on mineral grey......also the silvers or blues would look killer too!!

these are two ways to do it.....one is for those with patience
http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com/catal...isplay/639.html
click on additional info for the instructions

the other is to remove the radiator cover ( as shown above , then remove the two 10 mm bolts on the top of the upper part of the bumber cover (the thin part that runs up on the inside of each headlight) then pull the grill out to gain access to the back of the emblem, pop off the retainers and pins on the factory emblem ( if you ever want to re-use the chrome one, put it back on w/ two sided 3m tape, thats how mine is attached) then simply install the new pony in the grill, use a small socket to push the fasteners down over all 4 pins securely. ...either way , its a farily easy thing to accomplish even for the mechanically challenged.

Hmm... remove 2 10mm bolts? Removing the GT grille must be different from removing the V-6 grille. With the V-6 grille you simply remove the plastic radiator cover and then carefully unclip the front grille.

In terms of removing the Pony its challenging to remove the clips that hold it to the grille without snapping the thin plastic posts coming from the pony itself. In my limited experience the odds of removing the retaining clips without snapping the posts isn't very good. My suggestion... get a roll of good 3M double-sided trim tape to use to re-attach the Pony.

I believe they are the same. The bolts I'm referring to allow you to pull the entire grill assembly and the two upright bumper cover pieces ( that the grill attaches into) out a bit to gain access from behind.

OK, now I'm a little concerned. I'm pretty careful about doing this kind of thing, but how gentle do I have to be to get the stock pony off? Any tips from those that have taken this off?

Removing the stock pony is easy... removing the clips without breaking the posts isn't. As Hireman has pointed out in other threads using trim tape to re-attach the Pony should work quite nicely.

dont be concerned....look at your white avatar....see the painted parts of the bumper cover that go up on the inside of each headlight....after you remove the 6 pins to remove the radiator cover there is a 10 mm bolt on each side holding the top of the uprights on the bumper cover to the front support....remove them , lift the top of the uprights over the locating tabs then pull out the entire assembly to gain access to the back of the grill where the pins and fasteners are.....I would recommend just popping off the factory retainers w/ a small screwdriver and remove the old emblem....you can always re-install the chrome one w/ 2 sided tape if desired

when I called 4 local ford dealerships bodyshops to ask how they removed the emblem clips everyone of them told me they do not worry about breaking the factory pins , they ALWAYS re-install w/ sticky tape........if you remove the entire grill and try to save th pins on the chrome one you might save 1 or 2 pins...In my mind , breaking off the factory pins is a very small price to pay for turning it into a 10 min job vs 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours removing the entire grill.....sticky tape sticks very well...I have my custom pony in with it. So re-installing the chrome one with it would be no problem at all

OK, sticky tape it is. What thickness do you guys use, and where do you get it? Does brand matter? I just don't want to have my artwork, I mean pony fly off.....

Only use the sticky tape if you want to reinstall your old emblem..( cant figure out why you would want to.....LOL)
I included new fasteners with your new one!
