Need an honest opinion
Hey guys,
I've been looking at chin spoilers and pondering the prices, I'm trying to add some depth to the front end, but don't want to spit up the cash for an aftermarket or GT bumper. So I was wondering if it would look good and if it would be worth the money. So what you guys think? Worth it? Painted? Black? What style? Here's a couple pics to give you a better visual. Thanks in advance!

Hell yeah, thanks guys. I really wasn't sure what it would look like. I've seen some V6's that had them but shouldn't have cause they looked terrible. I didn't want to be one of those people haha. I'm definitely going to consider this mod seriously now. I just ordered some new tires and black billet grille upper and lower combo so the chin spoiler might have to wait a couple weeks. Thanks for the input. You guys know any details about installation?
Not sure if you considered Take Off Parts before discounting the GT bumper. For $200 you could get a like new GT bumper already painted tungsten from NewTakeOff. I got one from them after a fender bender and, while technically used, it was flawless.

Or for $380 you can get it with the center GT grill with fog lights.

(edit: or even better, get the newtakeoff bumper and then find a bullitt grill somewhere.. that would look sweet on your already sweet ride)
Then, save up more moolah, and eventually add any number of chin spoilers availalbe for the GT.

I agree with Spike about getting a GT take off, then adding to that. It really gives you a lot more options. I just recently got a GT front facia and a black billet grill, and it really changed up the whole look of the front end. But seeing as how you already ordered an upper and lower grill for the V6 facia, I'm guessin' that's out of the question.
I had the same sort of questions last year around this time. Luckily there was a guy here locally that had some GT take off bumpers from the same place as newtakeoff. I wanted to get front and rear due to adding dual exhaust. I added the black bullitt grille to get my black look back and recently added the CDC classic Chin spoiler. They all really changed the look of my sixer. The GT bumpers cost me $200, but I really like the look and the conversion was easy.

your car looks great. i had a CDC v6 chin and after a few months I hated it; its too small compared to the curvature of the bumper as it tapers down to the lower grill. Anywho, im currently running some cheapo ebay chin that looks like the 3D Carbon chin, but Ive got a GT bumper waiting to be installed with a CDC Classic chin

Oh...and i tried to contact the guy from craigslist. hasnt gotten back to me yet. Thanks for the link. That would be a DEAL

You're on the right track w/ a chin spoiler (or GT bumper + chin) as it's really what your car needs.
You need a spoiler w/ a 'cow pusher' design and not one styled like the new NASCAR splitters, and have it black.

I totally agree with that. That's why I'm so hesitant when getting a chin because it really doesn't look complete and it sticks out like a sore thumb when it's a different color. Well....at least that's the case with the sixers because of the curvature of the from bumper. So I'll probably just end up waiting and spending the extra few bucks on the gt bumper and go from there. Is it possible for a novice like me to swap out the bumper covers myself?
On swapping the bumper covers: Yes, very easy to do yourself without special tools. Less than 30 minutes to get the bumper off. You have to remove the splash guard under the hood and then remove the front portion of the wheel wells (instructions will tell you to take off the wheels but you can do it by just turning the wheels inward on the side you are working on). Disconnect all lights and then you just need to know where all the mounting bolts are to get the bumper off. There's a write up somewhere on TMS on how to do it.
The only trick is that you have to swap the directional signal brackets from the old bumper to the new bumper which are riveted on. So technically you’ll need a rivet gun to follow the instructions. However, I was able to do it without putting the rivets back in since the same bolts that hold on the bumper also go through the brackets... meaning the rivets are really there to make it easier to install the bumper but they are not necessary.
