Could someone explain to me why the turn signals need to be mounted on the hood scoop? I, for one, don't need to see mine to know when they are on.

It's retro! Sort of like my 68s hood!

Werd Functional would be great. Although it looks like the turn signals will be functional so I guess if you are going to split hairs you could call it a functional hood scoop.

Personally I like the idea of the hood scoop cuz its retro and quite cool looking. All in all I suspect this is just an amusing paradox. I mean some people want functionality from a non-functional and cosmetic accessory to the Mustang's hood.

Most of the old 68-70 hoods had turn signals mounted on the hood like that. I believe exception was shaker hoods. Looks retro.

Are you going to stripe on top of it, or are the stripes coming off? Maybe a third option is to just have the scoop be black. Can't wait to see it done, whichever you choose. You've had good taste with your mods so far. One of my favorite stangs to over.

Thanks John.....

Not sure about the striping. I am leaving the stripes on the car, so the scoop will either follow the stripes, or it will be solid black. I wont know until I have the scoop , and can see what it will look like.

I have been talking with Jeff at CDC. This scoop is designed to be made functional with their Shaker system. I would like to figure out a way to make it functional not using the shaker as it pretty much covers the entire engie and takes away all the dress up such as the intake cover, painted valuve covers etc...

If any one has any ideas, suggestions on making the CDC scoop functional I am all ears.......

Chris

Reviving here... has anyone installed this yet?

I really like the look of a scoop on these '05's, and am starting to come off the idea of a functional scoop. Yes, one like the RK Sport, that has a direct path to an opening above the air filter on a CAI is cool, but it sounds like most people that have added functional scoops have found that they don't really add noticable power. Maybe a few hp at best. Since it costs upward of $1,000 to put a functional hood on - or, alternatively, since making one requires cutting up the stock hood - I'm thinking maybe I'll just stick to something cosmetic. I like the low profile of the CDC one above and the turn signals are a cool bonus. I wonder how difficult it is to hook them up.

Anyway, just curious. If you have it, please post pics.

Any new mods Rene'? Or any new ideas?

Didn't see anything on your cardomain site, and haven't had the time to read every thread on this site anymore. Just wondering, like your car and can't wait to see what you do next.

I like the retro look with the turn signals. But, looks like this scoop does away with the windshield washer nozzles on the hood - or at least I don't see them in the pictures. For me, that would be a issue, for others it might not be....
