My Design. What do you guys think?

I'm comitting to saving up for the '05 Mustang now... and planning what I plan to do with it once I find the right one over here in Dubai. It'll have to be a red 5-speed manual with red leather.

I like the size of the Saleen rear end but it looks too modern and too plasticy for what I want, I want retro. So the plate will stay where it's meant to be and the plastic filler piece will be left off the tailgate. No rear wing.

I'm not a fan of the Saleen rims but I like the size again... so I'll be doing 20" Chrome Bullet rims.

I also want to pay tribute to the concept cars of the 60's which all seemed to have some kind of glass bubble top... so if the Saleen Scenic Roof isn't available, I'll do the CDC Glassback. Saleen looks much nicer though.

I just need some suggestions on side skirts that would suit the look I'm going for. Saleens look a bit too low IMO. I'm going for a good looking daily driver, not low low low track / cruise car. I still want to be able to cope with less than perfect roads.

I'll design the front next

its a pretty sweet moch-up but only 1 thing. one, that glass roof........its an UNBELIEVEABLY high priced mod. if i remember correctly the company that does it charges like 5 or 6 grand. get a blower instead. besides that, i think thats definetely an attainable design

You do NOT want a glassback if you live in Dubai. Not unless you wanna fry inside. While it looks very cool, it's just not practical for a place that gets over 120 degrees in the summer. But cool idea.

I read that the Saleen is no longer available, and when it was it was a $4,000 option.

I also read that the CDC top is available through Webasto dealers for $2,500 installed. I'm happy with that. I don't know yet if there are any Webasto dealers in Dubai but we'll figure it out when there's a will there's a way.

The other option I'd consider is importing a Genuine Saleen complete with Scenic top and blower, and sell off all the parts I don't want such as the Saleen front clip, rims, side skirts, possibly the seats (I just like the red factory seats ), guage cluster (I like the retro one) and so on and so forth for something like 75% of what they're listed for on Saleen.com, plus hand over your stock part. For someone in Dubai that wants those components, that'd be a pretty good deal when you consider what shipping would cost.

When I get closer to the time I'll have to weigh up the costs of both options. The major advantage of importing a Saleen is if I get it registered, I never have to worry about registration renewal because I haven't touched the engine and that blower was there from the factory just like every AMG Merc that's on the roads.

My goal though is to build a Mustang that I LOVE driving. I think the glass top is going to be a major player in loving the driving experience, whether it's looking up at the clear blue skies in the day or the stars at night.

A Mustang is a wild horse. It's all about freedom. The open feel that the glass top will give will just enhance that feeling. Call me crazy, but that's why I love the '05.

I'd love a proper convertible but the Coupe just looks so **** good. When I first fell for the '05 I knew I wanted one and I couldn't decide which. The glass tops settled the arguement

Actually I'll be fine

My company is adding Remote Starts to our product range, so that AC will kick in before I get anywhere near it, and the top has a solar film tint to it already and the other windows will be V-kooled. I think the glass top with V-kool will stay colder than the hard top and non-tinted glass.

I've been through a couple summers here where I didn't even have the roof on the Jeep. I was fine, I just wore gloves so I could touch the wheel

That was kind of my point.

But if you think you can manager it, I wish you the best of luck. You'll have a unique car, either way.

My theory is that the front and rear window are at such an angle to begin with, the glass roof is really not a huge difference. Without tint, the front and rear windows are gonna soak up heat in no time.

Besides, Q7's, Mercs, and even some Toyota's are being imported with factory panoramic roofs now... so it must be fine

We sell Vizualogic over here in Dubai and Panoramic tops are great for our business

You could just do the PJ/H281 rear bumper. I think it looks pretty cool. There's nothing whatsoever retro about the standard S281 rear end.

That's essentially a stock bumper without a plate bracket? That's the opposite of what I want I want the plate on the Saleen S281 rear end

If you look at the 67 Fastback, the rear tail lamp area was concave, and they had a pretty big rear overhang... that's the look I'm trying to emulate by using the Saleen parts.

chris

-- my only flaw with the chop is the exhaust i don't particularly like it i would want the exhaust similar to that fastback.

I'd love driving a convertible... but I love looking at the fastback coupe... I went back and forth on this for MONTHS before deciding the glass top was the solution

Made the 67 image the same size as the design photoshop for easy comparison rather than scrolling all the way through the page.
