Moss Slotted Tail-lamp Bezel Input
Moss Slotted Tail-lamp Bezel Input
Looking for input from all you Moss slotted tail-lamp bezel owners. (see pic below... sweet ride, but not my car. Mine is the Windveil Blue without tail-lamp bezels). I've on the fence between the polished stainless steel bezels (to go with the center cap/ exhaust tips/ lower rear valance chrome trim)... or going with the Moss slotted black bezels (to go with the SHR honeycomb panel). I heard two different stories regarding the Moss slotted black bezels: (1) color is solid black; (2) color is actually more transparent smoke.. and brake lights bleed through bezel. Can anyone confirm? Not sure if transparency is a good thing or not. Also, the Moss catalog states "For show and off-road use only, and may not be legal in all states" WTF? Thx.

Personally, I prefer the black covers. They are more transparent smoke than solid. to answer your question. I went out an looked, and there might be some bleed through, but it still looked alright. Here's a pic of mine.
The Moss (AVS) slotted tail-light bezels are smoked and do allow some light through. I painted mine Duplicolor trim black, because I wasn't crazy about the color of the smoked lense once I saw it in person.

I just scuffed up (really well) my moss slotted and then painted it with some Dupont Trim Black spray paint, about 3 coats. It came out really nice and goes with the SHR panel and the other black on the body quite well.
Also have the Moss slotted with the SHR panel. Get alot of positive comments at shows/cruise-ins. Besides prep and paint, I did have to add some #3M tape to one of them to fit snug.
Moss slotted bezels here too, along with a vinyl blackout.
I painted the insides of my bezels black before installing, leaves a high gloss.
I'm interested in seeing pics of the newer ones out now, they come in colors as well as black.

It really depends on the look you want. If you want a little more modern look go with the moss, but if you want a more retro look go with the crome or stainless ones. I got the ones from American Muscle. I just haven't found a rear pannel I like yet. I like the SHR except the way it fits around the faux gas cap.
I have the slotted black bezels in route from Ninosport. I currently have chrome ones but have Marcello's honeycomb rear cover and after seeing all your photos think that is a good combo.
For those who painted them black, how did you prep and what paint did you use?

I just used a red 3M scuff pad to take it down, you may want to use some adhesion promoter on there as well to make sure the paint sticks. Paint was as listed above Dupont Trim Black Spraypaint.
The car in the first photo is mine. Same as several of the guys here. Lightly scuffed w/ 600 grit wet/dry paper, then a couple coats of Duplicolor trim black. Looks awesome even up close, no bleed through with the brake lights on.
The "may not be legal blah, blah" in the Moss catalog is because they have headlight covers in the same listing. There's no issue w/ the tailight bezels.
