The comment was brought up in the "painted insert" thrad for the mirrors, since noone has made these, would any1 be interested in those? I can make them out of sheet metal, weld studs in the appropriate place, and they would bolt in, just as your stock mirror would, and they could be body color. Then people could attatch w/e mirrors they wanted, EI: Rotunda mirros, Bullet mirros, etc.....(shelby style) Feedback/????

How much are you thinking it would cost? That's exactly what I wanted to do, and put other mirrors, more Shelby style, so this would work PERFECT if you do it...

Are you talking about the exterior door mirrors?
Thats an inspectable item and you have to have them....

driving on the road.

First I dont hink a flat panel would bolt over right. If there was a market, it would be worth it to have them made out of fibrtglass or plastic.

Second, I think that only 1 outside mirror is required, on the driver side. If you remember, thats how cars used to come. Maybe the law changed, worth checking into.

I think he's talking about a metal piece (painted) in a triangle shape, that will cover up the hole when you take the mirrors out, and then to install an old school mirror for those that are trying to do a tribute out of their cars, or they simply want to put a different mirror than the atrocity Ford decided to put in our Mustangs...

Correct... we are talking about taking off the big, fugly, stock plastic mirrors and replacing them with some smaller, chrome, Shelby-style mirrors. Who do you think we are, Chip Foose?

Some of us think we are 'Schip Fooshe', but seriously speaking, is not hard to do, if you pull out the mirror, put a triangle shaped piece that covers the hole, and drill on the door to attach the new mirror, that's the end of it, unless I'm missing something

I was just referring to Chip Foose becuse he likes to shave the sides of cars of door handles and side-view mirrors... including the driver's side mirror. I like side-view mirrors, but I just think the ones on this car are too big. And although very functional, I'd rather have none and turn my head... or even look out the window... than to have these monsters affixed to the side of my car.

Rony, that is pretty much it. I took a mirror off a while back to see what was involved. I was planning to fabricate something up myself... but I just don't think I have the skill to do it. The only problem I see is the stock mirror has a small lip all the way around it... or at least on two sides. So, it's not like you could just cut something yourself to put there. It would take a bit of fabrication. And you would need to attach two bolt studs to the backside of the triangular piece so that you could bolt it on using the stock holes.

Well, that's when Roger comes in! He said he's gonna work on something like this, to sell it painted already, and I trust he's gonna do excellent work, we've heard from other members how satisfied they are with his work...

Id like no mirrors. this might be agood chance to do some new tech and add cameras rather than mirrors. Ive thought about this for a while and really like the shaved look. Id shave the handles but I cant get on the track like that

Yeah, that is weird to me too. I mean, obviously they want to be able to get you out of the car fast in the even of a crash or a fire. But, aren't ther drag cars that have the doors welded together. Or, just look at Nascar. If something happens, you break the window and pull the guy out.

Exactly, is not like they are looking for the door handle on drag cars or Nascar...

gald to see i'm not the only one thinking about different mirrors.
I would like chrome bullet mirrors that are sized or scaled to fit the 2005 mustangs.
Also deleting mirrors, and having rear view cameras (like the Cobra concept from a few years ago)would be very cool.
Bringing the retro mirror designs to the 05 would be very cool, untill an aftermarket company does it, or someone with the skills to show everyone else how to do it.....all we have is a good idea.
