Makeover Has Started

Finally got the car into the shop a couple weeks ago to get my front and rear bumpers and new hood painted. I had them cut the hold for the Shaker in the Foose/CDC hood and make the trim ring fit. They did an awesome job with that. I also had the antenna, emblem, SAT antenna and rear Roush spoilers holes welded shut. The rear trunk panel was smoothed out also. The biggest change is that I had the side quarter windows deleted and smoothed out and I had them blend in the Cervinis Type 2 Ducktail spoiler to the rear end. Check out the pics of their blending work. The blending work is not finished yet. I just stopped by the other day and he is still finishing off the bumper piece to make it flow better into the bumper.

well thats awesome! definitely keep us up to date on it! im ready to see that thing painted! what color are you going with?
|
Keeping it Windveil Blue! There is going to be satin black accents. All black plastic parts are getting sprayed black and cleared. I am still trying to decide on a hood stripe though. The shop is going to wait until the whole car is painted and cleared and then we will start looking at the hood stripe and anything else to get done.
|
Can't wait to see the outcome! Makes me wish I would've gotten my quarter windows shaved!!!
|
Are you doing anything with the interior panels in the back where the window used to be?
|
I purchased the CDC Qtr Window Closeouts to fill them in for now. Maybe down the road I'll get the shop to fill in the plastic panels in the back and smooth them and paint them. For now I'll just keep it simple.
|
So far so good! Keep the updates and pictures coming.
|
Looks awesome man!
|
Holy balls that's a lot of work. $
|
Awesome.
|
Awsome... gonna look great when it's finished!
|
How long do you think the makeover will take? Very anxious to see the inished product!
|
Hopefully within 2 weeks. The car was supposed to get primed and painted Windveil Blue this past week. I am going to go to the shop on Monday since I am off and see where they are.
I'll snap some more pics and post them this coming week. |
Yeah! Can't come fast enough!
|
Tell me about it. You don't know how long i have been waiting to get this work done. The car has been out of commission since around April. I haven't been able to bring it to any shows this year and haven't driven it too much since it kind of looked like crap!
|
Stopped by the shop today. Car was going into the booth this afternoon. Shop said that they are working on it all weekend and it should be ready for the second stage of paint. I have to go over with him about the hood stripe and other black paint. I'll snap some pics on Monday when I go there and post them.
One good news is that they might want me to bring my car to the 2013 Detroit Autorama. They are going to have a booth there and want to show off their work. |
Can't wait!

I guess...... I've done over 4k in mods and did not pay for any of it out of pocket ... I flip parts in order to get what I want. Takes me a Lil longer to achieve the desired look I'm going for but it beats the hell out of paying out right for mods
Btw I also get body work an paint at cost... Only portion I'm not sure about how to obtain is the air ride... Other than that ill have everything done by the end of 2013.... If the world does not end here soon :-/ |

Car looks great!! How hard was it to put on the 10-13 side mirrors?
|
Yes. It is a Scott Drake 64-73 Black Billet Gas Cap. It is an actual gas cap that I modified. I removed the internals of it that would screw onto the gas filler pipe and I am going to fill it in with some POR-15 epoxy putty that hardens to like steel. I will then put some 3M tape on it, so that it sits flush with the body. I wanted to try something totally unique.

The shop did them for me, but I gave them the instructions on how to do it and it didn't look too hard. You have to just enlarge some holes and I think drill a new alignment hole.

I'd hit it

Looks fantastic. But if I might suggest something, clear turn signals would look much better than the stock.
|
And if I could make a suggestion, I think a honeycomb decklid panel would look amazing and really give it that retro look!!! But it looks **** good as is

http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...ps630963a9.jpg I prefer a tri bar emblem ...that fits better. Just my opinion |
I have the clears. The stocks were just put in when it was in the shop, so that they clears would not get screwed up by them. I'll put them in soon.

I use to have the SHR Honeycomb panel and it was a huge pain in the butt to clean. The look is nice, but the upkeep on it is just not worth it.

Your car looks pretty **** amazing
|
Wow man! You did it right! I love the 1/4 window delete and the moulded ducktail! Very envious! Awesome job
|
Thanks...Took long enough! Just glad it is home and now sitting in the garage until the spring.
Just doing some interior work now over the winter. I have a bunch of pieces getting the hydro carbon dip and I am going to tear out the interior so that I can put in some sound deadening, to quiet down the cabin a little bit. |
Wow I love the custom work, looks awesome! My only gripe is that I don't think the wheels do the car justice. Doesn't fit in with the retro theme.
|
nice, nice, nice...
I had *almost* had my quarters welded up- talked to Shaun from Fang(thats not you is it?) was going to put 69 emblems up there, but saw the SHR louvers and fell in love with them... I got the fang hood, looks like yours, but its fiberglass and weighs a ton compared to the Foose...I went with a wider outline stripe, *almost* put a 'power by ford' logo in the stripe before clearing, but chickened out :) photoshop some of the 69/70 round emblems on your car, I think you might like them too :) I'm also partial to black-on-blue, have you considered blacking the rockers/lower bumper trim line? I see you got the CDC solid rear bumper, and the custom medallion- whats gonna give for license plate space? nice looking work there- absolutely love the formed ducktail- is it all steel? Tim |
That last picture was an old one with my Saleen Heritage bumper. I replaced that bumper with a GT/CS bumper. I have those emblems I think ou are referring too for the back quarter area. I am looking at getting them on to see what they look like. I showed the guys at the body shop and they really like them. I'll get some 3M tape on them and snap some pictures. I had the plain black rockers on there before the change. I just wanted a classier look with the painted rockers and the GT/CS rear bumper and CDC chin spoiler to have the flat black in the center and then blue on the outside to follow along the sides.
Ducktail is the Cervinis ducktail. Not sure what that stupid material is made of. Painter hates Cervinis because of the mold release agetns they use on their parts. Sean

heres a rough old photochop I did while waiting for my car to come in...was the first vista blue picture I found...was really wanting to do this, but like I said, just fell in love with the SHR louvers- so all I did was the black trim/louvers, fang hood/shaker came later on...
I really wanted the rear window louvers, but still havent found the 'perfect' set... really they need each slat to be unique(curved lower, straight upper) due to the trunk shape, was seriously thinking about making a set- might still someday. most sets Ive seen so far, from the rear you can see the roof under the top slat, the PJSaleen ones are the best Ive seen (think thats what yours are) but the 750 a set price was a bit too steep for me- I'm cheep, might still try to make a set up... on my 69 slats, the upper slat is a '3 sided' kind of stamping that fully seals top/sides, like that look a lot, but beating one out will be a bit of work with the corner radii, etc...the other slats would be relatively easy, once the pattern made anyways...also think reworking the 4 link trunk hinge will need modified to rotate the lid rearwards more if the bottom slat curve matches the glass...someday... cant wait to see yours with the 69 emblems mounted up- think its gonna be even more awesome- again, congrats on a job well done! |
Wow cool custom, looks great, love the quarter window delete and the stripes. Very cool sir.

Took your photo and made the emblem a little bigger. I think it definitely needs to be larger to look proportionate to that space.
|
Sean,
You've done an amazing job with this car! Would you mind sending me some images to my email so I can get them posted on our website? Don't forget to plan on bringing that car to Mustang Memories in August at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn! - Reon (not Jake) rjd@classicdesignconcepts.com |
Thanks Reon. I will for sure be at Mustang Memories this year. 2012 was a wash for shows. Didn't bring the car to anything. Any particular views you want of the car? Are you mainly interested in the hood/shaker, since they came from CDC??

Sean,
If you can send me a few images that will collectively represent the entire vehicle, that would be great. Doesn't need to be CDC specific. Thanks! Reon |

No emblem gets my vote too.
|
I think it is getting my vote also! I was looking for something different that nobody has done, but I think it is too smal for that area.
My other choice is to get a two tone SilverHorse Racing Rear medallion (silver outside/black inside) and put the tri-bar pony emblem in the centre. But, I think for now at least, I will leave it clean. |
you did a great job so far and you kept it straight.(NOT easy to do with that extensive of body changes) Can't wait to see the completed project.
