I just had mine extended on the front bumper and rear trunk. ( Too many people have the Ford stripes, so I wanted to make mine different).....go figure huh?

Oh, and I added the "dots" in between the "g" and the "T"......

Now Rene', don't get mad at me, but it looks even more unfinished than the original FORD stripes. Are you sure you don't want to get them completed by finishing the bumpers?

And Rene, don't get mad at me... but I think the G and the T are too close together to put the dots there. It wouldn't be too hard to take the T off and move it over a bit. I'd make the dots bigger too. Just a thought.

Edit: It would just take about a quarter of an inch or less.

Any full shots of your car? The stripes look good, but they are vinyl. Why the name paintman? Was vinylman already taken?

Ian,
Your car sure looks good. Tell me about the hood scoop. I am waiting for a funtional shaker system in the future. I do like the old school look of the scoop. It looks like a 70's Mach 1.

Thanks. I have the Roush hood scoop. Most everyone said that the Roush scoop didn't look good, but I decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did, because it definitely works on my car, especially with the stripes. I got the scoop at factoryroushparts.com and was $153 plus shipping. It comes non-functional with a black plastic solid grill that sits back a few inches from the front of the scoop. It doesn't look to bad... you really can't even see that it's a fake grill until you actually get up close to it. Personally though, I wanted to make it functional. So, I cut a big hole in my hood under the scoop, cut slots in the scoop's plastic grill and put a black honeycomb grill on over it. Then, I cut a small hole in the hood insulation directly over my air filter. Now, air is drawn into the hood (between the hood and the insulation) and then most of it brought straight to the air filter. A semi-ram air setup. But it really works. I felt a significant increase in power, especially when going over 35-40 mph. Not to mention it saves on gas. I made a trip this weekend to Texas (about 300 miles) and had made the same trip a couple months back before getting the scoop. I got 2 miles more per gallon on the interstate.

My opinion to you, and to anyone else, is if you get the Roush scoop... make it functional.

Thought I'd add my stripes to the thread. They are 18" center, 2" side, with 1" gap.

Doug, Gorgeous Car!!!

What Kind of exhaust is that peeking out the back? And the wheels, they look a lot like the Cragar SS I put on mine but they are slightly different.

Have you found a good glass cleaner that will take nose prints off the glass?

One of the best Stangs I've seen on the Whole Web Site.

Just a question I have been looking into stripes for my Sonic Blue GT and the guys around here (only 2 in area) say that for the Vinyl stripes the back end will go to a V-shape which is just plain ugly. I am in Citrus county Florida and looking for someone to add the Shelby stripes on mine. Does anyone know of who would be good in the area?

Thanks!

The exhaust are Magnaflow axle-back mufflers which btw sound great without beeing to obnoxious. The wheels are 18X9 Chrome Bullitts with BFG KDW2 255/45-18's all around.

Thats funny about the nose prints - every time I go out to lunch I see people checking my car out in the parking lot

Fronz,

Do a search on stripes please. I have already posted installation information and really don't want to type it all over again. Also look at my gallery.

Fronz,
You can sure tell the diff between the paint and vinyl. A custom painted stripe will be about the same price as a full stripe kit. The real stripe should be 10.75inches with a 1" gap. Anything else is not quite correct. I have seen 7, 8, and 9" stripes and they just don't look right. I paid $750.00 for mine. The painted stripes shine and look custom. The vinyl can't really be polished and it just looks flat. Spend the money for paint. Get several bids from shops that do custom work. Don't let them convince you to pay for blending. Paint is as thin as vinyl and even the stipes on the Ford GT have a paint edge and aren't blended. You will be happy.

A couple of pics This image and the one on the cover of the Ford Racing Catalog was what I gave to the custom paint shop for my car.

Good luck

I'm sorry but I just love how people say "You sure can tell the difference between a painted stripe and vinyl". Not really. Mine are vinyl. Everyone thinks they are painted until I tell them they are vinyl. Here is the back of my car. Dswhalen, don't mean to offend but I don't agree with anything in your last statement.
