LED Tail Lights - Question

Hi everybody,

Do you guys/gals know if the new style LED Tail Lights (Look at the pictures) works with the Sequential Light Wiring Kits out there? If anybody knows, that would be great to know.

Thanks!

Just a guess but I'd say no. The reason is LEDs will most likely be embedded in a circuit board and have some sort of control chip also embedded. Probably requires a completely diffrent harness also.

There are some LEDs out there with the sequential function already built in, I just can't remember who makes them...

i think it would with those lights because all you need to do is hook up the wires to your factory harness and tape those two boxes to the car and you have the taillights

FYI Do NOT get the tail lamps with clear lenses. They do not allow the light to refract properly, so under heavy ambient lighting (mid-day sun) other drivers may not see your brake lights as clearly.

What about the smoked ones? I don't really like the clear lense ones.
I also remember a while back someone painted their tailights black (2 coats) of some paint, it looked as if the GTS tail lamp covers were on, but it was sprayed on. I guess that would take care of any glare.

Man those things look funky Whats special about LED tail lights, sequentials on the stock housings looks so much better then a handfull of light dots straight off of a chinese toy. I could of sworn I saw sequential ones too, I think the lens was red on it.

Are you saying that Doug's car (from bamachip) looks like a chinese toy?

Let me know... IMO it looks nice, nothing like a chinese toy, but hey, that's just me...

Aside from a limited electronics exposure many, many years ago, I've no personal experience with this, but since all a sequential circuit does is delay the application of the stock voltage/current to the lights, and the LEDs in the second picture appear to show plugs that mate with the stock sockets, it would be logical to conclude that LEDs that share this characteristic should work with a sequential harness.

Doesn't mean they will, of course.

the reason dougs looks ok is because his keep the red lens instead of switching to all clear or all smoked, i can understand those but clear or smoked ones do not work for me and the spray is really just headlight tint that you can spray on any of the lenses

Sorry dude but the LEDs look like a Japanese toy to me...having said that to each his own, do what makes you happy! You only go around once.

I just don't understand the attraction to them when our stock bulbs glow nice and even, the sequentials look perfect on them. Only thing I like other then a good reflector/bulb setup is the type used on some caddys where the the entire tail light simply looks like its cut in half when flashing with no perceptible blub shape showing. Looks more like an led screen then the bulbs. But a TL with 9 little red dots, meh. I don't know if you will get that 'soft' transition with led's either versus an incandescent, if the sequentials just go dot-dot-dot with leds.

Ah, yes, I did see that, but still gives you the impression of a single bulb, although there are many LEDs in the replacement of the bulb... and for $230, I don't think so...

I have these:

http://www.mustangproject.com/Produc...3-410c7e2a9dc9

They work perfectly and look great. The price is a bit steep but that is the sequential conversion and all the led bulbs. Also does not look rice when installed like so many of the other led conversions. Looks very factory. Top notch quality and support too.
