KR hood done....finally
Well after 3 months of delays and work, the KR hood was ready to show at Fun Ford Weekend yesterday. Took a few pics so you guys could see. I am pretty pleased. The hood locks work very well but were a pain to get installed right. There are some minor paint problems to be worked out but I don't think you can see them in the photos. All in all I am very pleased with what it has done for the look of the car. Don't know what my final body shop bill is yet but it ain't cheap....what you guys think?

Bling under the hood is a combo of MGW and UPR that I had refinished in chrome. Tanks are from Lethal and then chromed by a local shop (airline platers).
The twist lok hood pins are OEM for 68 and 2008 Shelby GT500KRs. I got these from Tony Branda. The hood had to be custom modified to provide the required recesses for them and then the receivers added to the radiator core support. That part will get easier when the KR parts become available. Note that the hood pin locations on the real KRs have moved from those shown on the prototype due to the latch receiver locations. No go on the how to guide. Very involved to add to the hood as it requied a load bearing plate to be adheared to the back side of the outer skin of the glass hood and then the inside liner to be reconstructed.
I have sold one pair of the stock wheels and still have one pair not paid for. PM me if you are interested in them. Also have the stock hood to sell.
The hood started life as a TruFiber Venom but with over 60 hours of rework and modification. The hood lifts are quite secure and well supported. We saw the problem and corrected it while the other work was going on.
Thanks for all the kudos. When doing something this drastic, you always start to question your judgement.....I am pleased but will be glad when the final touchups are done on this chapter. Its been a long road.
Body and paint was done by James at Cillis Auto here in Houston. PM me if you would like some contact info.

My apologies for butting in, as it isnt my intention, but I did switch my GT amber turn signals for clear and I can tell you its a cake walk. I will be converting my front end over to the more aggressive GT500 one later this year. From what I have read thus far (and experienced on my own car), there is no reason to believe it would be any different to switch them in the GT500 than it was for my GT. The GT500 front end conversion is totally cosmetic at best and really isnt much different except for the angle of the lines coming up off of the bumper heading to the hood. Because of this, the headlights have to totally be replaced (since the GT ones just go straight up verses up at an angle like the GT500). I could easily be wrong, but I completely expect to be able to remove the clears I put on my stock GT bumper and then put them on my GT500 one before I bolt it on. I have the parts list for the GT500 conversion and none of them list new lenses for the conversion, so I base alot of this off of that.
Maybe mellow or another person who converted the front end can speak up (since I havent heard of any GT500 drivers doing this lately).
Just my best guess guys. Thought I'd try to help.
