Im ****ed, just ****ed
Im ****ed, just ****ed
My baby has always been in the garage, under a cover most of the time. Now that Im in Arizona and staying with my sister for a while I have to park on the street. I also sold my F150 so the Mustang is now my daily driver.
Seems like every day Im seeing something on the body. Im missing a spot of paint on the nose of the front bumper. Theres a scratch on my driver mirror and on the insert. Another scratch in front of the rear driver wheel.
I have a small dent on the front bumper where some punk rammed a shopping cart into it at a WM parking lot.
I like my cars to look new. I start to lose interest when they start looking used.
Less than a month ago the car was perfect.
It just ****es me off.

D@mn...Sounds like you're ****ed!!!
Mine is not a garage queen, it is my DD, but she's kept in the garage when not driving. About a month ago I had to leave it outside in the drive way. Parked the wife's car behind it though. First time the car stayed outside in the year I've had it. Made me nervous all night.

These cars are meant to drive. My friends think that I'm stupid for driving my car year'round here in Indiana. Its ironic though, that those same friends think I'm stupid for double-parking at the furthest most available spot no matter where I go- restaurants, groceries, outlets, etc.
The bad news is HiRoller is right- some schmuck will still hit you no matter if you park on Mars.

I dont garage my car, and its my DD. Ive also had to park it on some pretty scetchy streets unattended, with a lot of people that will probabaly get jealous seeing a 20 year old kid getting out of it, if ya know what I mean. after all its not like it was given to me.

I have my best luck parking right next to the cart corral thingy. I figure, if someone is going through the effort to put their cart in the return, they won't slam it into my car. Of course, some people would do it with evil intentions, but they'd find you out in the open in the back 40 also. So far, it has worked. The only dent on mine is my own fault (sneezing fit as I was pulling into the garage- dumped the clutch and scraped the fender on the door frame
)

Hey BurntPony, don't despair. We're all in the same boat. Dents, dings, nicks, scratches, they're all part of life for our cars unless you keep them in a museum. I used to get a lot more upset about such things, but after many years of psychotherapy and TM (three martinis), I am fine...just fine, really.
The weather out here in the Eastern Washington desert is usually a lot like yours down in Arizona. No rain, and hotter than a pistol in July and August. BUT, lately the Seattle weather has been moving our way. Weeks of rain and storms. And so, great weather for detailing and tending to those nicks and dings.
Like Monty Python says..."Always look on the bright side of life"
(All threats to shoot me for being such a pollyana should be addressed to my bodyguard Vito)

Welcome to the club.
I look at it this way... "Chics dig scars!"
My Daily is beginning to get sand blasted from all of the freaking sand that's on our roads right now. I can hear it hitting the windshield, and even when I'm far back behind some one. Just terrible!

Try to keep it as clean as possible, I think that most people see a shiny car and are a bit more careful when opening their doors. In supermarket and mall lots remember to find the high ground in the lot, carts will not fly up hill. You ever notice the people who work at these places also park far away and generally next to each other to prevent possible damage.
Hey Steven, can you do something about that rain that is coming our way? We're supposed to be a desert out here on the Sunny Side. Only 7" of rain a year. I think the change in our weather has something to do with the two Starbuck's coffee shops that opened up here during the last few years
Oh, by the way, I think sand damage to windshields is covered by insurance (like rock chips). You might be able to get it replaced in the spring.
