I'm chickening out
Brought the Xenon spoiler to the body shop to be installed (I'm also having stripes painted). The guy at the body shop say's he wouldn't put it on if it were his car. He thought the material, being as flexible as it is would crack the paint, it can expand/contract with temperature or if the trunk were slammed hard. He just didn't like the whole setup and said if he drills the holes and I don't like it, I'm stuck.
I really don't mind the stock spoiler, I like it better than I thought I was going to. :bang: I'm going to stop after work and talk to him, see what it looks like, he has the spoiler off. I can return it so I guess its no big deal.

The SSE and CDC ducktails don't cover the stock spoiler holes, so those wouldn't work for Robyn... or for me. I also ordered the car with a spoiler, just because I don't like the way it looks without it. It needs something there. I think I've gone around about a hundred times on this, and finally decided to save money and keep my stock spoiler. But Robyn, to answer your first question... take the spoiler to another paint shop, and even a third. Get more opinions. Some paint shops are more experienced with painting things like that and have better recipes for flexible paints that shouldn't crack. Worth a shot. If not, send the thing back. If Xenon is making their parts that cheap, then just wait for another company to come out with something.

Wow - I was interested in going with the Xenon spoiler cause I liked the look the best - but the rest of the products just looked..... cheap on that model car..... now it looks like what I feared might be right. That Roush spolier someone on here (dang forgot the name!) is lookin better and better.....
Guys, can I need to add my opinion on this subject. I had a 2002 Mustang with the Xenon kit and even the Roush 3 piece spoiler ALL made of urethane and I had no problems EVER! They'd been on my car for over a year and not one issue. My bodyshop would have definitely advised me against installation of this product if they thought it wouldn't work. Bodyshop owner is a very good friend of mine. Anyway, my opinion may or may not matter. But if this helps as proof this is my '02 mustang and of course my 05:

If cracking paint is your only problem then go for it. There's a material called 'flex' that can be added to paint to keep it from cracking. Take a look at your plastic bumper covers, look how much they'll flex and push in and out without cracking. You might want to get that second opinion previously mentioned.
Well, I stopped to see what the issue was and it's more than I thought. The spoiler just does not fit! We lined it up on one side of the trunk and the other side is over 1/4 inch! All they give you is two sided tape for the trunk and you have to drill holes in the quarter panels for the side pieces. I'm not going to do it. I will wait to see what else comes out down the road. Maybe when the Shelby comes out, we will be able to order that spoiler
I'll keep the stock one for now.

I got my car w/spoiler delete so I could go ducktail, and think I'm going to wait for a Shelby spoiler or an aftermarket clone of it. I've waffled on the SS, Xenon, and CDC for months and each one has disappointed me in one way or another. The GT500 spoiler is more along the lines of what I want to see, and someone, if not Ford, will surely sell a knockoff eventually... I hope.
I sent the spoiler back with a note that it didn't fit. I bought it from autoaccessory4u.com, they took it back no problem. I will try to get intouch with Xenon and let them know as well.
Don't know how long we will have to wait for the Shelby spoiler. Maybe someone else will come out with something in the mean time.

Well, I'm glad I searched before I posted!
I've been thinking the same things as many of you, and have come to this conclusion: Wait for th Ford Shelby spoiler.
Reasons:
- IMO, it looks the best
- I assume it will use the factory spoiler holes to mount
- I REALLY like the ONE piece design, having the sides 'hang' over the rear qtrs. Thus no tape, no holes to drill.
- Factory colors?!?
- Certainly will be the best fit.
I guess we'll be waiting a while....

I saw a redfire StageII Rouch next to a local car show last w/e (Rudy's in Round Rock, Tx). And although it looked tight, qtr side pieces did NOT line up very well with the rear deck piece. Left side was off by 1/4 to 1/2 inch....quite noticable. Overall, it sure makes for a mean looking 'Stang!!
I saw a Saleen while vacationing in Florida, actually there were 4 of them. All the spoilers had imperfections, like small dips that were very noticible. I wonder if it was where there were screws underneith pulling it down?? or maybe they heated it up to mold it??
But for 43K, I wouldn't want something like that! I couldn't beleive it, even took a picture.
