Finished detailing my car & I just was not happy with seeing those big mufflers on the sides & especially out back because the rear sits high & the valance doesn't cover then enough.

Got a can of flat black heat paint & painted the mufflers. IMO the back of the car looks so much better as do the stock tail pipes.

Will try to post pics next week, camera out of town.

Your camera took a vacation?

I'm planning on doing the same thing, what kind of spraypaint did you pick up?

I like the way the chromed mufflers look. I never thought of painting them. Goog idea.

Flat paint is non glossy, right? Kinda like a primer look?

I used Plasta-Kote Hot Paint.

Yes, dries very flat black.

Clean the mufflers first with brake cleaner & a rag.

Cover your tail pipes & your good to go.

I was planning on doing that as well but now looks like I am going to replace the exhaust system with the magnapak's. The are tucked up a bit so you don't see them from behind.

Watch out for aftermarket cie's to bring out more discrete and less restrictive mufflers for the 'Stang...just a matter of months i suppose....

I think I'm going to leave my mufflers the color they come.....but alot of that has to do with the fact that my car is Satin Silver. I think the rear valance on the GT hides a little more of the underneath than does the V-6 valance also.....

My car is Torch Red. So the mufflers really stood out in their silver color.

I may also go for after market units, but until then I feel this is the quickest, easiest & cheapest mod you can do to improve the rear looks of the car.
