How to remove those dealer Tags

Before I could pickup my car the local dealer put a metal dealer name tags on the rear panel of the car. I was a little upset and even though I do like the dealer, I would like to remove it. Any suggestions on how to remove this item? Also, do you think it will harm the paint by removing the tag.

Try using dental floss run between the tag and the car, then use Goo Gone to remove any left over residue. Doing it that way will definitely prevent any damage to your paint. Nice car!

Thanks Guys! I will have to pick up some of the Goo Gone. I would assume that Autozone may carry that. I appreciate the responses.

at the dealership i worked at we would zap the decal for 30 sec with a heat gun and then use dental floss to remove the decal then to remove the glue we would use windex(that stuff does everthing at the dealership). good luck

Lighter fluid or rubbing alcohol will do the same as Goo Gone...just be sure to follow up with wax/polish...

Avoid the dental floss and fishing line if at all possible.
Warming up the emblem, especially a new one, is all you need to do. It will pull off leaving none of the tape behind.

I am with WuTimeUT, just tell the dealer to get rid of it for you. I am sure they will be willing to take care of you.

Should have told them that before you took delivery, would have been easier!

Use heat for this car.......

For the next car you buy, tell the dealer to take it off or else you want a cheaper price since you'll be advertising for them. Sounds cheesy, but I've purchased 4 vehicles from 3 different dealers and everyone of them has removed the decal/emblem after I said that and then stood my ground. You'll be amazed when you find out everything dealers will do to save cash! (which coincidentally is why I don't trust dealers to work on my cars! )

+1 on just getting the dealer to do it for you. I took my old V6 back to the dealer and told them I didn't like the deler sign on there and they took care of it for me.

Hint...Make sure while using the dental floss to have another person hold the metal emblem or else it could fall and scratch the surface paint of the car below.

first thing i did when i got mine home from the dealer was take that awful advertisement off. thankfully, the dealer i got it from only uses vinyl decals and it came off 1,2,3 with no problem.

every time i see someone with the dealer decal or emblem i think to myself.....y didnt they take that **** thing off right when they picked up the car? and the dealer liscense plate frams annoy me even MORE since its even easier to remove.

That would be the first thing I would tell the dealer (they don't do those obnoxious dealer stickers here in CA) is either that advertisement comes off or I leave. Period. I can't believe people put up with that crap advertising on their cars.

Well, it is finally off. I got the hair dryer and heated up the tag and it came right off. No glue stuck to the paint. I made sure it was waxed and it sur looks a heck of a lot better now. Thanks for the tips!
