Back on 1/10/06 I order a pair of HID headlights from Saleen for my 05 Mustang. My car was hit by a deer and it messed up one of the headlights. I figured now was a good time to replace both of them with the HID kit. I placed my order and at the time, the lights were $1099. I called two days later to see if they shipped and the person said they were doing inventory and it would be out in a couple days. One day later I happened took look on the forums and saw a post saying the price went down to $899. I called back to get a credit since I hadn’t got a notice saying they had shipped. The funny thing was when I called Saleen about my order status they never said anything about the price decrease even though the price went down the day before.

Well I called Saleen, they gave me the run around about not giving me the credit. I finally said to the person on the phone, “if they haven’t shipped yet then why can’t you give me the lower price?” It would have been different if I already had the lights but they still had them. Finally, after about fifteen minutes of arguing I got a $200 credit. Then they told me oh well they won’t ship out for another two weeks. I was like two weeks you have to be kidding me. The gentleman said he would get back to me and let me know if he could expedite them since the body shop is waiting on the lights. Well 24 hours went by and it didn’t hear from them. I was blown off by the head of customer service and sent back to another guy who said they would be sent out by the end of January. At this point, I just said fine and gave up. My car will just have to sit at the shop until they feel like sending it out. I live in MD so I’m looking at a week since they will be sending it ground, when it finally does ship. I would have thought that they would have offered me a two or three day shipping upgrade free because of the hassle.

My warning to all those who are interested in dealing with Saleen is to call and place your order. Do not do it online because they give no notification as to how long it will take an item to ship. They never at anytime showed the product as having a delay. They never called me to keep me informed even though they had my phone number. Each time I called, I informed whomever I was talking to that, the order was for a damage vehicle and I needed this ASAP. I was thinking about buying a SC from them but now I’m not so sure. The KB SC keeps looking better and better….

Kenne Bell is not known for their customer service either.

Yeah it does suck. It seems that they are new at the online parts business. They need to get their buying experience in order so that they stop getting a bad name. As for KB, I’ve heard about them as well. However, I don't have first hand experience with them yet. If Saleen can't get a small order out on time I'm not expecting much regarding the SC. I was hoping a better buying experience would help my SC decision. Right now Saleen and KB are still sitting equal.

Right now I hope I just get a working HID kit will all the parts. I've heard of people missing a part here or there. I wouldn't be suprised.

welcome to the world of Saleen my friend. Probably one of the WORST companies when it comes to customer service. I learned my lesson for the last time and will never order parts from them again....not to mention everything they have is rediculously overpriced anyways. They had their place in the mustang market back in the 90's but they have REALLY gone downhill, especially in product quality. A word of advice, don't buy from Saleen...period.

I used to love their cars back in the 90's as a kid. I will have to agree they don't give you much for the money now. The HID kit price at $899 is a good deal though. Most of the aftermarket HID kits on eBay are junk. To have a kit properly fitted to the Mustang would cost just as much. Sounds like you might want to change your name from SaleenPowr. LOL

I don't know why it moved to off topic, as a comprimise, I think it should be okay in the exterior mods section

I hear you but they are the only game in town for a complete HID solution. I wish Ford would get off their but and offer it as a option then I would have another source.

At least you got someone to actually talk to you at Saleen. You are more fortunate than I was. :bang:

Have not dealt with Saleen but have been pretty lucky with suppliers. Think its kind of ironic that the best service I got was when I bought some emblems for like $35 - the guy on the phone spent about 15-20 minutes discussing what I was looking for, etc and your spending around $1K and can't get the time of day.

$1k is a drop in the bucket to them. I guess I get good service if I bought a S281. I never heard so many people say I can't do anything it's out of my control in my life when I called them. They just kept passing the buck around. I wonder if Steve Saleen gets involved in any of the day to day operations?

I totally agree with you about their customer service. My guy was nice, but things didn't go well.

I ordered a set of HID's begining of December. I was told they should ship out in a week. Three weeks later I call to find out they are doing inventory and that they will delayed more, but should ship in a week. A week goes by and I see a post on TMS about the lower $899 price, so I call to check on shipping and they haven't shipped them yet, so I ask for the lower price. The rep says that he will talk to his supervisor. He calls me back and says that they can give me a Saleen $200 credit. I asked for the managers name and number. After all it's not like I'm going to apply the credit to a S281 or something. I call the manager and explain the situation. He agrees to the lower price.

I recieve the HID's 2 weeks later only to find out that they have charged me the full $1100. So now I get the thrill of calling again to straighten it out. I almost feel like calling VISA and letting them deal with it.

Saleen shouldn't sell direct. Period.

The only thing I have seen from Saleen that has remotely interested me in 10 years is the HID conversion. That its under $2000 is amazing enough. And yes, other suppliers should stock and sell the parts for them.

I'll give Saleen props that they did an awesome job with the HID setup. If Ford was smart they would just buy the design and offer it in all Mustang models. The $899 price is killer for the setup.

When I put HID's in my Accord Coupe it was really expensive and time consuming when it was all said and done. I had to buy all the parts separately, then get a headlight assembly and have the projectors retro fitted. By the time it was all said and done it cost me more then Saleen’s complete kit.

I just installed the HID's last night. I am very happy with the kit and instructions. They still haven't fixed the driver/passenger side error. I would like to see a cap for the drivers side unused harness included, but overall a very nice/complete retrofit kit.
