Hood issues

I have recently bought a gt500 hood for my 06 gt. The louvers on each side seem to line up perfectly with fuel rail and firing order electronics. It's a DD and is drivin in rain and does not sit in a garage. Anyone have any pics of the under side of there gt500 hood or pieces I can attach to reroute water away from that area.

On my GT500 the hood vents open just before the fuel rails and above the supercharger but there are no factory channels that reroute it... it's just open.

Although I don't think I've gotten much if any rain on the engine that would cause any issues but maybe it's because it burns off before anything happens?

What about when it's parked or sits in rain? I wish I could park it in a garage or not drive it in rain but it's my only car and have no choice.

You'll definitely get water into the plug wells if you use the hood as is, you'll need to check it regularly and drain them. I didn't and had a hell of a time when I went to change plugs. After that I got a set of Trufiber vent covers that completely cover the vents, but that kind of defeats the purpose so I cut slots in them. It doesn't let as much air out as without them, but it keeps the water out. The picture was from before I painted them to match the hood.

Sorry, after posting I realized you probably meant the factory GT500 hood and not the KR like mine.

Mine is a daily driver so it's been in the rain plenty.

We have coil covers on our engines so there's no possibility of rain getting anywhere near the plug or coil... I imagine if it was like the 4.6 they would have designed it differently.

Yea mine has no covers and it's a aftermarket duraflex gt500 style hood. I suppose I'll have to invest in the covers from a engine dress up kit, or maybe just get the pieces that were posted above to cover the vents and reroute the water.

Yeah I had a GT so I remember those coil plugs being totally exposed.

This is what my engine looks like

Did you buy the covers directly from trufiber? If not do you remember where you bought them? I tried finding them but sadly I cannot find them anywhere.

The S550 GT350 and GT500 have a rain tray to redirect water away from the engine. I don't know if anyone makes one for the 07-09 GT500 hoods, but if you're handy you could try to make one.

Howdy! Welcome to the forums!

You're in Oman, so that's going to hinder things a little... Parts outside the US for these cars are... fun. Still. You'll want to find a Ford parts company somewhere that can source this part and get it to you. Maybe parts.ford.com. Perhaps talk to a dealership. It's that kind of new and rare/special part that it's pretty much going to be the only place you're gonna get that, unless you find one aftermarket (unlikely, given licensing issues) or you make it/have it made.

Here's a link to Ford's parts page regarding this piece:
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/bo...ssy-11966539-1

It's a little weird to make out, but the part number is 16C630 There's pre and post parts to that number, that's the middle bit... and then here's the page for that particular part:
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/sc...ood-11966993-1

Ouch. It's 2000 US$, compared to the hood which is 'only' 1400 US$.

It *looks like*, given the hood is KR3V-16612-A, that this hood scoop is part number KR3V-16C630-A. But that's a guess, can't find it. The hood you can, it's on Ebay right now.

Look to the second to last picture, part number's there. Lil' damaged, but very serviceable seein' it's just black ecoat. Easy fix... not that you're buying that, but anyone who is, there ya go.

If you can get someone who can get Ford parts, then you've got the info otherwise. I hope that helps! Good luck!
