Thumbs up

Is there a hood on the market that does both air intake and has a heat vent? The more I read about heat issues with the GT engine, the more I think a heat vent would be more prudent than a hood scoop.

I'm not aware of a hood designed to do both functions. Both of the RKSport hoods for the 05/06 Stang are functional, directing fresh air to the air filter area.

As a thought/idea, I didn't reinstall the rubber seal from the rear of the factory hood onto my Cal Dream Ram Air Hood. I haven't had any adverse affects/problems. I just "assumed" that "maybe" the small gap would allow some hot air to exit from underneath the hood.

Long Shot, I know....

I kind like that hood. It's like a RK and a Saleen rolled into one! The fit doesn't look to impressive though. Look at the rear by the window. It looks like the hood curles up.

They have'nt had one in the shop as of late...They have been selling to fast. I did talk to the owner Jay this weekend about them and they have been fitting great with 0 problem's to date. If I didn't have my RK hood I would buy one...Jay is going to have me some functional louvers made up to put in my hood to help pull heat out. Call Kim at Mustang Depot and tell them Justin sent ya. They are good people and will answer any question's you may have.

Ah thanks for the info Vegas... I really like that hood, like the 67 Shelby look. ... Having never had a fiberglass hood I am having trouble pulling the trigger on one.

Now if someone would just combine the leading edge intakes of the CA Dream hood and the rear louvers of the Mustang Depot hood, we would have a repro '67 Shelby hood for our 05s/06s.

Keeping my fingers crossed ...

Yea, I don't think the scoop is functional on that Mustang Depot hood. I can't believe how much heat is an issue with the Mustang 2005. That's one hot engine.

The scoop is "functional" in the sense that it opens into the engine compartment, but it's not a ram air setup.

I live in the NE and have to worry about rain and snow. How do you guys think this hood and opening would affect my engine compartment?

I like the Dream car factory car's hood. It has a cool air intake on the front and heat extractors near the rear.

Like the older shelby's ...
