Hood Blackout

Is there any place that sells a vinyl black out stripe for your hood? Like this: http://www.graphic-express.com/K105-...od_stripes.asp except attached in the middle so it's just one big stripe. I've seen it on a few cars and want to put it on mine but i'm wondering if it has to be painted on.

I was talking to a vinyl store a few days ago about this very subject. They concluded that because this style decal is being applied to a 3 dimensional surface, it would be very difficult to achieve without access to a CAD/CAM drawing of the hood.

Thanks for the interest in the hood graphic, if there is any questions I can answer feel free to email me. I will check back on here from time to time to see if there is any questions I can answer. I think that the Steeda style will be the next hood graphic that I will be trying.

I'm assuming you are the one that makes the hood graphic in the linked eBay auction. If so, I have a couple quick questions for you:
  1. Does the graphic have cutouts for the windshield washer nozzles or does the buyer need to cut them out?
  2. Does the graphic go on in one piece (large center blackout as well as the pinstripe surround) or do you apply the pinstripe after you have the center section on?
  3. Would you be willing to do a group buy price for the members of TMS?
I think it looks great BTW. This is something I have been entertaining (painted) for about a year now but I just don't want to commit to the cost of paint before I do finish my performance mods. This may be a viable alternative to get the look I want without taking too many funds from the mod account.

Thanks,

The ebay listing says this is a two piece black out with a pins tripe surrounding it. The blacout piec has a seam down the middle.

I would be concerenedwith the seam showing and eventually separating /lifting as the decals age and shrink slightly.

I have a vinyl lacout on my trunk betwweene the lights and after a year, it's showing a significant amount of wear. The vinyl attracts dust and is easily cratched.

This summer I am removing the vinyl blackout panel on the trunk and having it and the hood painted.

Could you provide some close-up shots of the hood black-out? I like the idea, but I'm also concerned about the middle seam being easily visable.
Have your rear blackout on now, excellent bargin IMO.

Ok, I will try to answer all of the questions in on post. I will work on some closeup pictures of the seam in a bit. The washer nozzles are pre cut, that was the first thing I did when working on this decal. The blackout is a 2 piece kit. The pinstripes are installed at the same time as the center sections. The kit does come with application tape over it to keep the pinstripes in line. I would be more than willing to do a group buy. I will take off $5.00 per person that you get in the group buy, for example if you get 3 people they will be $85.00 ea. If you get 5 to buy they will be $75.00. I will go down to $50.00 if you can get 10 people in your group buy. That would be 1/2 off!!! Good luck.

dynamicmustangGT, if you don't trust my work, you can check out my ebay feedback. I have been doing this for a while now and I have nothing but confidence in my work. I stand behind my products 100%. I have owned 5 Mustangs from V6's to Cobras. As you can tell they are the preferred car for me and my business.

I didn't say I don't trust your work. I was simpily answering the original question. I didn't mean to offend you, personally I like paint and would pay a little extra for it
