Honeycomb rear facia with Shelby Stripes
Honeycomb rear facia with Shelby Stripes
I'm trying to decide if the Silverhorse Racing honeycomb rear panel will look good on a torch red with 10 inch wide White racing stripes. I know that Adrenelin had his car set up that way, but I can't find any pictures that will confirm if this detracts from the stripes or looks good.
I absolutely love the rear blackout but I prefer the smooth over the honeycomb. That's because the honeycomb is impossible to clean and I predict that after one or two years, it will look "aged" due to sun fade. It will no longer be uniform in color. That being said....
I also like the blackout with striping. Just as the front grille (black) breaks up the striping in the front, so does the rear blackout panel in the rear. Cars that have striping all the way up the rear; it's just too much for me. The blackout panel tends to "even" out the colors.
Here's one pic of mine and my wife's, both with smooth blackouts and striping. The striping on the sonic blue car (wife's) is a custom color and painted.

Willie, no sweat on individual tastes, fully understand that - it's what makes the Mustang hobby great.
But on the weathering /care - we use ASA resin, which is a form of ABS that already has UV stabilizers in the material. So when it's molded, it is already protected against sun-fade. The piece that is on my personal car (the white 05) has been on there since we started offering them 3 years ago. It is in Florida (plenty of sun here), never garaged, and will be the same piece we have on the car when it is used as our SEMA show car this November. It's not that we couldn't put a fresh one on if we wanted to, it's that there is no need because the part looks as good today as it did then. It's again just one of the details that makes a small difference in production costs on this end, but a big difference in the long-term quality of the parts on the customer's end that we hope people realize when comparing our products to others on the market. On the cleaning, I've always just used a sponge and soapy water or my pressure washer - the part is a lot less "deep" than it looks - the way we play with surface finishes artificially increases the perceived depth of the part, but it is actually about the same depth as the original honeycomb panels on 71-73 Mustangs.
So it's all good, just pointing out what we do on this end to insure we minimize potential issues like that from being problems on our products.
