Head Light Lens or Covers, on the 05
Sorry Guys But i don't remember if this has been Discussed in depth before?

It might look OK on a Photoshop but you Will Not be able to remove the plastic covers, and leave them off! :nono: It would be the same as removing the lens from a current Mustang. There is NO INNER LENS on the headlight, to protect the Halogen Bulb from Rain and Stones etc. The Reflectors were designed to give it the look of an Old Style Headlight but Be Completly Aerodynamic at the same time.
People used to actually put covers like these over their headlights in the 60's and 70's, B) before Composite Halogen Lights were Made Legal in 84 on the Lincoln Mark VII. They did it for two reasons, to make them More Aerodynamic, and less of a Bug Collector.
The first real use I can name was on the Studebaker Avanti, in 63, I had an 83 Avanti II with covers like these and it was very cool, and made cleaning the front alot easier.
So removing them is Not an Option, and is honestly a step backwards in my opinion.

"Me, among others have wondered how an 05 would look w/o the plastic cover on the headlights. I dont know if it can be done, but if it can, can any one plz do it. Thanks in advance. "

If you read above, you'd know that there are NO plastic covers on the headlights except the one that's in dispute here.
Unless it's the wrong type of fastenings or something, then could one just buy fog covers and put them on the headlights? It's not likely, but I'm just wondering.

yup, this was already discussed
but i didnt know that their was no inner lens. thats news to me.
but i agree, i would want my stang withOUT the plastic cover.
if the old stangs didnt have a real problem with aerodynamizitityty, why should the new ones. anyways, the mustang isnt seen as an aerodynamic machine, but a tourquey monster IMO :drive:

Mustang is supposed to be mean, loud, and scare the crap outa people with v6's and fourbangers. When you rev and engine, you're supposed to hear it OVER the radio, no matter it's loudness. The car next to you is supposed to be staring at your monster in awe of it's mustanginess!

You know, you guys just crack me up!
One minute you're Whining about, this car Lookin Like a Brick compared to the current Stang, and how much the Car Weighs, and how the Gas Milage is gonna be bad, but little things such as these plastic covers may just add a couple miles a gallon to your fuel economy, or a split second better times in the Quarter Mile.
Just because the OLD MUSTANGS got by without these covers doesn't mean that they were better, or didn't need them, because of their "aerodynamizitityty?" they just didn't care about aerodynamics back then, because Gas Didn't cost $2.00 a Gallon.
And just because it is AERODYNAMIC doesn't Make it Less Muscular, or Uncool, or less Mean! Hello, if anything it aids your Top Speed, and allows you to use more of your available Horsepower,
because it reduces the Drag created by the Air the car is pushing through, so the lenses let it slip over the sides of the car, as opposed to getting caught in the Headlight Buckets, with all those Dead Bug Carcases, like a Parachute. :notnice:
As I stated above the First Use of Lenses like these, was on the 63 Studebaker Avanti, that to this day still holds World Speed Records on the Bonneville Salt Flats!
Now tell me, that it's Not Muscular?
p.s. Dragon, Todays Headlights are called "Composite Halogen Lights", as they are composed of several parts. Housing, Lens, Reflector, and Bulb.

Yes the representation is correct but the point you are missing with the alternative is that you still have the Housing/Bucket with Pockets to catch the Air and Bugs around the Light . See Below.

Aftermarket will probably make a new headlight bucket that has just the reflector covered and not the entire bucket
