Has anyone seen this fuel door?
The same as the rest of the appearance upgrade products that are available, makes the car look different / better / more personalized.
They were originally modeled after the "monza" type flip caps that were used on early race cars for a faster fuel load capability, but with the advent of safety rules and better technology for keeping the fuel where it belonged, the design went away - the current technology is to use a male-female dry-break which looks somewhat similar to the aluminum doors available for the street cars, but isn't practical for street use, although Ford will be switching to a street version of this in 08~09 from my understanding.

That's just so wrong on a number of levels....
I have it on good information that Saleen did not call Ford for their custom door, and the company making the door for the PJ car was using a .010" (that's ten-thousandths of an inch) diameter endmill at 25k RPM to do the engraving work on it.
Not that I'd know anything about that...

I like the new ford fuel door but I think I'd like it better with the rivits like the Silverhorse Racing ones.

Well, I'm really at a loss for words, so...
We've had ours available for over a year now, made from two billets of solid aluminum, in a variety of finishes. Ray Man's is our black anodized piece.
I'll let the photos say the rest...
Kevin - any commentary on the quality that you can post in public?

On a Personal Note, I am a Big Fan of Marcello's Products! Top Quality and Great Customer Service.

Nowhere in my post did I say we did that
Of course, with the quality of our piece, it's pretty clear that most companies that want a custom door for their premier vehicle would probably call us to see what we could do for them in a custom part...
Of course, I do remember October-November being particularly hectic around here and some of the in-house projects getting sidelined for a little while - but maybe I'm wrong about that...
Kevin, thanks! I appreciate it very much. I'm fully aware that their piece fills a different niche (as do our "competitor's" products), but the visual "cues" draw striking similarity, and the timing would be about right for the lead time required of the "big boys" - it's too bad they didn't call us, we would have been happy to have given them a competitive quote on what is sure to be a relatively low volume (for them anyway - for us it would've been huge) order like that.
Is there any idea where the official pricing is coming in at on those pieces, just for a reference? It looks like it is an aluminum stamping attached to an OEM hinge assembly, correct? In volume I bet those things are just being popped off of a line... of course, looking at the attached photo, I guess we're not just sitting around here whittling them out manually either

Me too. I think this thread is amusing. We have an absolutely beautiful aftermarket fuel door available in several finishes and the quality is fantastic. Yet so many people are getting excited about a Ford fuel door. I personally prefer my after market fuel door by far. I remember when I first bought it, I was (and still am) VERY impressed with not only the looks but the quality of the mechanics. Just opening and closing the door it feels like a very precision piece. -Joe

The short answer though is yes - they bolt-on using existing holes in the quarter panel.

I love Marcello's parts and prices are right in there, however I personally picture this if you will:
With the faux door on our rear decklid, the actual primary fuel door would in my opinion be like dual tanks. I have a project under the wraps right now soon to be unveiled, so I would not toss your take off fuel doors folks let alone the fact what Ford wants for them thru parts.

Got it.
