Rice isn't a term that you use for a car that you don't agree with the styling, it's a term you use to describe a car that is typically slow with all exterior mods and no mods to increase performance, yet they are showing it off like it is. That's all just my opinion.

I might not agree with some of the choices, but this car is far from rice.

Very well put together car!

It's something for sure. Maybe not rice. But whatever it is, it's not a Mustang.

I do love the wheels though, TSW I believe? I would've gotten those, but they were too pricey for me at the time.

Ditto

I'm super conservative with styling for my OWN car and think of the aluminum stock hood as sacred ground, but for a sponsored car for a speed shop, it should be a little over the top. I think it looks good Not a fan at all for lambo doors, but when you're selling the stuff and it's hot for a lot of the public and they're a sponsor, why not? There's no plastic chrome, stickers, or neon on it or anything out of the impulse rack at Autozone, its all big-buck mods...You open the hood and there's a supercharger there, not a florecent green painted fuse box and some crappy CAI thats all scratched up because this is the third Civic its been on.....

In the pics, you can see the car get the new body panels added on the spot for the crowd....

thank you for all of your comments. There are some of you that say this car is rice. What exactly is considered rice? Like the gentlemen above said, everything that is on the car is top brand parts. I would never put anything I felt would consider it to be rice.

I think that a lot of people are afraid to change and hate to see a car like this over the top and in the spot light. Like it or not I represent our community as a Mustang owner. I really think there are haters that all they do is hate.

Check this video out, it reminds me of a few people on here.

I have to agree with you. Although I am OLD and I like the Retro style, I find many things that I like about your car. A car should reflect the owners taste and we should all learn to enjoy the creativity of others. After all...it is a Mustang...and we should all be happy when people find new ways to enjoy this American Icon. The reason the Mustang has survived for 40+ years is the fact that it is so flexible and can be modified to its owners' tastes with little effort. THIS car may be the spark for some young boy or girl to join the ranks of the rest of us who truly love the Mustang. I say...good job and more power to you!

well, i think 'hating' might be too strong to describe negative comments. they're just opinions. the car may not be rice, but it sure is ricey looking.

Well I'm old enough to actually KNOW what the 'rice' expression means.

Stock mustang owners calling a fully built block whippled with a shot of juice(more then double stock HP), big brake and full suspension car that can wipe the floor with their car's *** calling this 'rice'?? The paint like rainbow Saleen extremes at $99k or the 04 Mystichrome cobras?? The car has the goods to back it up. Technically, if you have just a stock GT with the plastic spoiler on the rear or God forbid a fake hood scoop, you're sporting 'rice' compared to this car

What's rice??:

Saleen --HID Lights, Suspension package, control arms, panhard bar, Extreme 5-spoke wheels, 14' Brake kit
Mac Performance --- Custom side exhaust
Mechanix Wear --- Protection Gear for the crew
Nitrous Express --- Nitrous kit w/10lb bottle
Classic Design Concepts --- Directional Mirrors, Sequential tailights, strut shock kit, Detail corral, floor mats, GT 500 pedals
Blow By Racing --- Full BBR kit, Eleanor hood
Whipple Supercharger -- Full Polished 10lb kit with intercooler
Corbeau --- CR-1 Micro-suade seats
Nos Energy Drinks --- provided drinks to keep the crew up and awake
Kustom Shop --- Nittro Blue custom Paint
HCM --- Labor of course
SS Inserts --- All chrome accents in motor
Lucas Oil --- Support and tons of oil for the car
Diablo Sport --- Hand held tuner
Vertical Doors --- Vertical Door kit
Dunlop Tires --- 275/35/20

Since then we have added these mods

Glass Top from CDC
Fully built engine by ST Motorsports
Fully polished motor by HCM
Full suade door panels by HCM
A-pillar 3-gauge pod with Autometer gauges
CDC center gauge pod with Autometer gauges
Interior accents to match exterior paint

Whats not to like? The color? I don't like the horrible D.O.T. orange or 'take your skirt off' tungsten purple, but dont think of the GO/Tungsten cars as 'rice'.... If you don't like lambo doors thats fine but there is no 'turbonator' or 6" exhaust tip on this car. What's rice??? This one is easilly over 600hp? what do some of the 'rice cop' cars here have??

typed up a response, thought better of it, deleted it. typed up another response, thought of it, deleted that too.

i'll just say this - and it's a general statement and not specific to this car - whether or not your car is rice has nothing to do with how much money you spend or how much HP you put down...

just my opinion.

Thanks Steve!

Lots of S197's at the show, but only one had a set of custom fading rocker stripes!

Ernie, that vid was funny as heck!

About the 'rice' subject, who cares, it's just a label. Build and mod the car the way you want and enjoy. Nuff said.

Paradigm1220, those are Saleen Extreme wheels, according to his original post.

I had a response similar to Kevinb120's all written up yesterday, thought about it, and decided to just post what I liked about the car. Nice to see I'm not the only one bothered by the poorly applied term "rice" here. There are only 2 things about this car that could be considered "rice" IMO, the door hinges and the paint. There are other cars pinted like this though, Saleen has paint like this as an option. Is Saleen now considered a "rice" manufacturer? Ford themselves sold Cobras with color changing paint, so those Cobras fresh from the factory are "rice", right?
As for the hinges, I consider them more Bling than rice now, look at all the Hummers, Escalades, etc. that have vertical doors, and I dont consider those "rice" cars. Like I said, they're more "Bling", more for the owner who wants to really stick out, be all about the show. But in the end, that's what the purpose of this car is, to show off what HCM can do. And I can look past a $200 hinge kit pretty quickly to see how well the paint was applied, the suspension system, the exhaust, brakes, etc.

Take away the paint and door hinges, and this car is the same thing many others on here have tried to build, or have built. I applaud HCM for their work, and like I said before, I would like to incorporate some of the mods Ernie has done on my car.

And for the definition above of Rice being external mods to imply the car has more go than it really does (paraphrasing), where do you draw the line with that? Is my car rice, because I've done more external mods than internal? I've got new bumpers and hood, the quarter window louvers, and a new rear spoiler, but I don't have a rebuilt block or supercharger, or headers even. Are an intake, CMCV Delete plates, a tune, UDP's, and mufflers enough to take me out of the "Rice" category?

ALright, I'm done, let the hater's hate, and the rest of us can enjoy life.

I just think its odd there was so much hate on this car On other threads people are going nuts trying to find a plastic box to stick on their aluminum hood and everything is hunky dory...Heh I just saw the post above and thought the same thing, I think the keyword on the doors is bling..at 90wpm I get stuff typed up before I have a chance to think to delete it....I'm a little crass online though, if someone's not buying something from me, 'taking care' of me or making me dinner then its let the words fly caution be ****ed...

I'm not sure if I should be offended or consider my GT a "GO/Tungsten car" and take this as a compliment.

Seriously...no offence taken...we all have our likes and dislikes. Your point in well taken. I think we are on the same page.

Why are we beating up on another Mustang guy?

yeah i love the enthusiasm and passion.
but this mustang is just way too "MTV"
it just screams in your face. really annoying.

it's just too much.
you should have used a charger or 300c.

i guess the only bad things are the paint and doors.
everything else looks great.
