GT500 rear bumper question

Personally, I think the rear of the GT is alittle plain for me and I'm really liking the look of the gt500 rear w/ diffuser. Couple of Q's...

Can it be order right from the dealer?
Roughly how much?
Is it a simple nut/bolt installation swap?

Thanks.

Yes it can, they even offer it as a kit now. Although that's really the CS appearance kit, the only difference between the two is how much of the lower bumper is black when you get it. Not sure of the latest prices, they went up last month, but if you want, you should check either with your local parts counter or with 05stangkc (clevparts@aol.com). He's very helpful, very honest, and the best dealer parts guy I've ever worked with. I got both the front and rear GT/CS bumpers from him a few months ago, and just got another part in the mail yesterday from him, and will go back to him again when I want something new.

The last time I talked with KC, I believe he told me the GT500 rear fascia is pushing upwards of $500 (or more) due to Ford raising prices. We both came to the conclusion that it would be easier (and cheaper) to just order the GT/CS rear fascia (same as GT500, I believe, only the sides are not painted black by default) from my dealer...which I got for $355

The installation of the GT/CS kit went off without a hitch (although the service shop told me a GT bumper would not fit a v6...I guess they proved themselves wrong) so it should be super easy for your GT when you get it. Personally I would suggest the GT/CS over the Shelby GT500 bumper, unless spending an extra $150 or so for the real thing isn't a problem for you.

If you are keeping your rockers body color get the GT/CS one.

I'm assuming it (the CS bumper) comes unpainted (and there's no CS in alloy) - what's a paint job on the CS bumper go for? (roughly)

The only thing that comes painted on the GT/CS fascia is the center diffuser. I'm not sure the cost to just paint the GT/CS fascia but the cost to paint my GT500 front, fender and GT/CS rear fascia ended up being only $886.80 but that's paint, materials and labor included. I'm not sure which portion of that was just for painting the rear fascia, plus I think I got a discount because I was paying at the rate per hour my insurance and the body shop worked out and not the rate per hour they would ordinarily charge (upwards of $80 per hour) if I had came into their shop on my own. Sorry this isn't detailed enough but it should give you some kind of idea what to expect.

If you're getting a GT/CS rear fascia and you're getting it painted GT/CS style instead of GT500 style, I would definitely keep your Alloy GT rocker mouldings. The front of the GT500 fascia hangs pretty even with the rocker mouldings (well it's lower than the v6 front fascia) and the black chin spoiler provides a theme that would flow to the sides and complement the rear fascia if you were getting it painted GT500 style. If you were painting the GT/CS rear fascia GT500 style, I would recommend picking up a set of v6 rocker mouldings, which are the same as the GT500 rocker mouldings.

When I took my car to the dealer, I wanted them to paint the rear fascia GT500 style because (1) I liked the look and (2) I didn't want to buy another set of rocker mouldings. Instead they painted the rear fascia GT/CS style and with the way the front GT500 fascia hangs pretty low, it just killed the look for me, now I'm in search of Satin Silver GT takeoff rocker mouldings to replace my v6 ones so that the side profile flows a little better. I included two pics, (before and after) so you can get a sense of what I'm talking about.

So in short, if the rear fascia is getting painted GT500 style, pick up a set of v6 rocker mouldings (mine will be for sale soon), if you are getting the rear fascia painted GT/CS style, use your Alloy GT rocker mouldings.

Hope this helps.
