GT500 conversion

I Just finished the conversion and man was it easy, Thanks kevin.
I didn't get the gt500 hood cause in my opinion the gt hood makes it look more retro, like the 68 shark nose. The only thing now is that I need to get a new rad cover, but I will make one myself.

Here are some pics, hope you enjoy. I have hood pins, but they are the WMS stealth pins, didn't like the idea of drilling through my new hood

I am going back to my shop and painting the hood latch and putting on my stripes next week.

Very nice. If you get a chance, paint the bracket under the hood latch black, so it wont show so bad. I did mine as the yellow poked through real bad.

Looks great! You're right, that GT-style hood goes well with the GT500 facia!

Nice job! I like the hood, too. JMHO, but I hope you're keeping the Cobra emblems off!

Why are we even going there? We need to stop sparking these contests everytime someone shows off their pix.

It's ok Mellow. I am keeping my GT emblems. I don't claim it to be a cobra or anything else. Everyone has there opinion. I am looking to get a new radiator cover and extensions, but I don't know if I need the Gt500 or keep my regular gt. I have the stock one on now, but the holes in the grill are off. I am guessing I need the gt500 one, but the problem is that the airbox and power steering are different. help!!!!!

Also, should I do a superstripe (24") or 10" lemans with 1/4" pins on the side. Man this is a hard decision.

You will need a GT500 radiator cover. As far as extensions there are only two companys that make them and they are not cheep are easy to come by. And don't worry they will not effect your airbox or power steering locations.

Thanks guys. I know that Bangastang sells a one piece cover, but that thing is $350 and only comes painted and that's an extra $200. I think I will keep looking.

looks very nice man.
Compared to stock GT500 hood the GT makes it look mean and and menacing (pardon the redundancy)

My vote is for the superstripe. That will make is more unique.

I just completed a GT500 conversion, and I chose to not add the Cobra & Shelby emblems. JMHO= "Just my humble OPINION" which I'm entitled to give without your okay. I'm finished with this subject, and I don't want this to escalate into another debate!

now there was on part on drilling out the rivots on the turn signal bracket to swap to the new bumper. is there any pics available of the install of the bracket on the new bumber and pics of putting the rivots in? Let me just get this clear as well, the rivots are only for swapping this bracket? how many rivots per side?

There are 2 rivets per side. They hold the turn signal in place. Took a whole 5 minutes to change over. You could always get a new set from for for about 12$ each, this way you have a complete spare bumper. Just make sure you get the clips also.

I don't have any pics of that, but somewhere on here there is a great write-up.
