GT/CS Side Scoops Install/Pics Fits 2005-2009 Where to Find! 6R3Z-63424A62-AA
LOL... not really... probably just tried of people getting ripped off. Just for ghits & siggles I called around for some estimates to paint a CDC chin spoiler as I didn't want to bother my friend. I received quotes from 300-400 dollars! Needless to say, I told them all to put down their crack pipe and then decided to bother my friend. Most people will just accept any cost offered by a "painter" due to ignorance of what actully goes in to painting a piece of plastic. This is one of the reasons why car insurance is so high. A paint shop will charge thousands(plural) to repair vehicles that actully... literally cost a few hundred in supplies and labor. Don't take it personal, I didn't... If you're satisfied with the work of your painter, that's all that matters. It's all good

Not to brag but I got you beat. My painter had to do them twice and I brought them back a 2nd time because of some blems I only noticed when I got them home. Fixed those while I waited. No charge for the whole job. Would have been $134. These things are as smooth as glass ... hope to get them on tomorrow.

Here we go. Going to have to replace the tape as its not strong enough to pull down the top rear corner warpage (other side the same). Can't believe these would ever be secured with confidence w/o the push pins.
I noticed that today before I popped them on. But that would be a double failure to loose the scoop ... the inner tape and the outer.
What thicknees did you use? I went by parts store this evening and they had wider (1/2"), but only .045" thick (I recall). Was half as thick as the existing tape, so I passed. I may check what I can get from my painter or another parts house.

I like the side scoops....just dont know if they match the 1/4 window scoops too well. I think the CDC or the cervinis would be a better fit. JMO. But the rest of your car is killer. Im a sucker for the black on black
I'd remove the side scoops before the louvers. I'm not 100% "sold" on the side scoops. The only thing that I'm sure of is NOT drilling holes. The decision to return back to stock will be a lot easier.
I have been to every major Auto Parts store and they all have the very same 3M tape. Nothing on the packaging sez heavy duty. Its also slightly thinner than the factory tape, so makes me wonder if it is really possible to get a good bond since you won't be able to press it down as hard?
I finally installed mine!
Decided to go with just the tape. When I lined up the template the holes appeared to not quite make the scoop mount the way I thought it should, leaving a large gap between the door and the scoop. I got to the point of taping the template up, loading the drill, and applying the drill bit to my quarter panel. I held it there... held it there... held it there... but couldn't pull the trigger.
Instead I bought Autozone 3M tape (yes it's thinner but that doesn't appear to matter) and squashed those bad boys on just by eyeballing it. I hope they are on straight!
Anyways, here are the pix! I am happy with them! The scoops rock!
