GT/CS Side Scoops Install/Pics Fits 2005-2009 Where to Find! 6R3Z-63424A62-AA
I recently installed the GT/SC side scoops, also the same as the Shelby... that I purchased from KC- undefined. I fully intended to to drill, and even had the template taped to the side panel, but when I dry fitted them after paint I was not %100 certain that I liked them. I figured that it would be a lot easier to just remove the 3M tape than to patch 4 holes if I decided to remove them. Also, upon further reseach I descovered that the plastic slip bolts are only used as a guide and to maintain compliance with DOT standards. They actually have no "holding" properties, if any, very minimal... I decided to removel all of the supplied 3M tape(PIA) and install wider, thicker, and heavier duty 3M tape. Well, they're installed and they are starting to grow on me. They are very solid and I have no fear that they'll fly off. What do you think?

Just two sided sticky tape? Now you tell me!
I personally like the look but I remember when I first saw mine, I wasn't sure either. Different strokes for different folks.

Looks good. I went to pick mine up from the painter with the intention of installing them this weekend. Unfortunatley they had some paint blems, so they have to shoot them again. Lucky I caught it then and not Saturday morning at home.

How much could I expect to pay for paint on these puppies?

$50.00 is a nice price, but its sounds a litttle light ... my experience is you get what you pay for. I'll know what mine is when I pick them up ... prep, material, clear coat on top and buffing out ... not many good shops work for $25/hr. I gave my guy the parts no questions asked. He did my stripes, hood scoop and duck tail and they are excellent, so I know and trust him to be fair and expect to get a professional job.

Oh... and he is my friend and neigbor... and I did the prep myself. The $50.00 was more of a gift as he would have done it for nothing.
One thing I've found out is that the actual cost to paint is VERY minimal to what most charge. Body work is different... you actually need some talent for "that". You can buy a quart of PPG paint(some say the best), clearcoat, primer, sand paper... all for under $50.00. Use those same supplies to paint 50 louvers at $200.00 a piece = a profit of $9,950 +/- not counting time. I understand that they have to make a "buck", but what some charge is ridiculous. Just because someone is charging you $200.00, or whatever, doesn't mean that you're getting $200.00 worth of service and materials, it means that you just got ripped off... It's true, usually you do get what you pay for, but not always
