GT/CS cosmetic mods

I actually wanted to get an 08 Shelby GT vert' but I wanted white. Fell in love with the CS so I got one and added some Shelby performance stuff to tweak it a bit.

For the CS purists out there, all the mods can convert back to bone stock if necessary - I even purchased spare dove grey rear seat interior caps. the originals were cut for the light bar install. This is my first post - hope the pics are attached...

The "fake gas cap" center CS logo piece is from Shelby but the rear blackout is a magnetic vinyl one. I'm happy with it - fits good, the black matches the solid part of the GTCS stripe and to go back to stock you peel up a corner and roll it off. you can get one here:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Musta...spagenameZWDVW

Are those little caps or plugs for the license plate delete? Where did you get them from?
Nice mods. That's the best is that you can make your Stang your own.

Those little black plugs are called Caplugs - you can get them at Home Depot, or Lowes and at Autozone too.
When I was buying the car, my local Ford dealer found a close match to what I was looking for in a GT/CS and I specifically put in the contract I didn't want a front lic. bracket on the front fascia. So when the car was delivered a few days later - it came in with the holes drilled but no bracket. I didn't accept the car and I asked how that happened. they said the transferring dealer had already installed the bracket and the receiving dealer removed it as instructed!

I accepted the car with a negotiated compromise and was able to fill the holes with those little plugs. I was actually going to paint the plugs HP white but the local cops started to gave me the evil eye, follow me, etc. So in the end I put the damned bracket and tag on after all.

Nice ride, I really like the white / black combo. I want those 3.55's. the light bar is a CDC, that's what Shelby uses on the GT vert. I got it and a few other things from Haney Motorspor thttp://www.shop.hms-store.com/main.sc They are good folks and Casey is a Mustang guy & very knowledgeable. You can get a dove grey version but I liked the Charcoal/black. It goes better with the other black trim and stripes on the car and matches the Charcoal/black interior pieces perfectly. The CDC unit was packed well, shipped reasonably fast has outstanding quality and clear instructions. I have seen this listed on Ford dealers option sheets next to the factory sticker at $1200. Do it yourself for less than $420 including freight.

Yes, I installed it myself and it was not a big deal because the instructions were excellent. The only oddball tool you will need is a T-50 torx to remove the upper seat belt bolts, both sides. If you contact CDC they will e-mail the instruction sheets on pdf so that you can check it out first. If you get one and would like some shortcut tips on the install, contact me - i have a few. For example the instructions say to remove the rear seat. I didn't.

**** dealers. I had asked mine for the plate delete as well. In fact I ordered one straight from Ford thru my local dealer, and the manager was fired sometime after I placed it and no one followed thru with my order. It's no wonder the dealership went out of business.
I ended up taking one off the lot at MSRP.

And although it offers no rollover protection - it is SAFER. hit the brakes and you have more bright red lights back there than a fire engine. Only someone on a cell phone while driving would miss it. LOL

Seriously, the new CDC light bars now have the wiring integrated so that when the top is up, the light bar high brake light is disabled. Without this feature, night time driving with the light going off inside when you tap the brakes would be a major distraction. The 1st generation light bars had this problem, but a $30 retrofit kit would fix it. As I mentioned, it is now built in at no extra cost.

Great job, very unusual color/ stripe combo. Plus I've never seen a parchment light bar - looks real good on your car. Your mod list is longer than the std features and factory options on my car!

I think the light bar looks great! I know that a lot of people try to get rid of as many tail lights as possible but I like having the additional safety factor. Beside, I think I looks cool on the back of my Stang.

Hey Ray car looks great. I didn't know you had a glass roof. What brand is it Saleen? or other? And if you don't mind me asking, what's the ballpark on the roof material, installed, out the door?
