GT 500 wheels

Has anyone have the GT 500 wheels offered from American Muscle? I just want to know if there are any clearance issues when using the original tires sizes off the GT 500 on a standard GT

I cannot quite answer your question but I've got a set of chromie GT500 wheels ordered in the 17-inch size. The price of 17-inch tires is a fraction of 18-inch tires, so.....

I'm not 06 but here's the link anyways:

Interesting how the 18" GT500 wheels are ~$33 cheaper than the 17" in the same style BUT the prices for tires are about double for 18-inchers....

You're right Willie about the prices of the tires, I figured this was my most sensible choice to soften the blow of the expense of new wheels and tires. My local dealership was asking $450 per wheel plus a $50 core charge which didnt make sense to me.

The GT500 wheels is really nice looking. Quite similar to the FR500 wheel at a glance.

The CTR is reall nice too, but a little pricey, and only a pound or so lighter.

My 17-inchers have been shipped and I'm due to get them next Monday (10-30-06). I was hoping for this Friday so I could get them on the car, but as fate would have it, I probably won't get them mounted/balanced/installed until the following weekend. Is anyone interested in seeing pics once I install them?

As for the tires, I'm going with P255-50/ZR17s....

Got them today. I also ordered SVT centercaps because I couldn't stand the generic ones they give you.

CTR has the gunmetal 18x9 rims on sale for 550.00 shipped right now. Not sure if their other rims are on sale or not.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get the new wheels on the car this weekend. Most likely in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics again when I get them on!

Update: 11/07/06

When I received the wheels a couple of weeks ago, I spotted slight damage on one of the wheels. I called American Muscle the following day and they were extremely prompt in shipping a replacement. Shipping takes five days. I received it one week later (yesterday). The box was torn apart in one corner. Once I opened it, I found damage on this wheel. So I called again yesterday to inform them of this. This time, I wasn't so lucky. They had zero stock with no expected delivery date for more.. Just my luck, I was thinking. Around noon today, I checked my home e-mail to find one from American Muscle >> They got one in stock and shipped today. Odd how only yesterday they had no info on when they would receive more, yet today they had one shipped. I won't see it until next Monday though! Let's hope this third attempt is the lucky charm. It's scheduled to be here on 11/13....

Cool

I just ordered a set of the 18x9.5" GT500s tonight. Don't know when they will arrive but I'll be sure to get pics.

I won't be able to drive on them until I wear out my current set of tires, can't justify throwing away a perfectly good set

The wheels went on "sale" for 119$ each, so saving roughly 40% on the set was a pretty strong motivation to buy now.

Update: 11/13/06.

I received my third "fourth" wheel today and you're not gonna believe...... it's not damaged!!!!! I got the tire mounted late this afternoon. Unfortunately, I dropped my car off early this afternoon for some "body" mods. They're minor so I'm hoping to pick up the car Friday. If so, I'll have the wheels on this weekend...

I have a 07 v6 with newly purchased GT500 machined wheels from Mustangtuning. I have the recomended 255/45/18 tire size. They rub the suspension when I turn all the way to either side. They told me to get a wheel alignment and it wont rub but I dont believe them. The wheels look great though.
