I really like the looks of this hood and have placed my name on the list. Now, reading some of these posts has got me concerned about the quality and lack of response by customer service. I'll have to wait and see how they address these issues before they get any of my hard earned money. C'mon, 12 hours of work by the body shop to make Brian's fit right? That had to cost and arm and a leg! :bang:

I would really hate to sway anyone way from the hood. It is very high quality compared to most - very good deisgn and finish. It just seem to have some odd items that have to be adjusted. Now, it would be nice if the corners were not rounded off, and heck, maybe they will fix that on their future hoods.
BTW, I did not contact customer service - I know the game. It would not be worth the time - I jsut want my hood sprayed and installed

That was my setiment exactly. I love the look of the hood. I just hope that they take a closer look at their fitment before they ship the next batch. It takes a little work but all in all the finish on the hood was good. Just the corners like Bryan said need a little more material added or a little less sanding at RKSport. I didn't have the problem at the scoop and it sounds like that is where most of the time was spent on Bryan's.
I'm sorry, but for what they're getting for these hoods, one should receive it, take it to get painted, and install. I like the looks as well, but right now, there's too much extra work for it to look like expected. Bryan, how much did you have in with the bodyshop?
Hang on to that thought until next week when I get mine back from the paint shop and either myself or Bryan will be able to confirm that. We will also be able to give you a better idea of what the REAL cost of this hood is going to be. It may end up costing more to get the hood to fit than the price of the hood from RKSport. I have been waiting for a reply from them long enough and I would hate to recomend them to the rest of the board if this hood is more trouble than it is worth. I think I have given RKSport more than ample time to answer questions and get back to me but I have heard nothing other than thier initial call.
My hood came in yesterday and I just got back from the body shop and it looks like my hood has none of the problems. The corners are pointed just like the stock one and not rounded and the scoop area is clean. Were the corners noticeably rounded ? Anyway , they're going to test fit it either tomorrow or the next day and I'll know for sure then. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I'll let you guys know how it fits ...
They were noticalbe when it was test fitted. I am very particular about - pretty much everything
. I want to hood to look as if it was made for the car , you nkow the drill. So, when thyey test fitted the hood, you could see how the lines did not match. Keep an eye on that. If you were luckier than I , good for you
I am just frustrated... after have 2 springs set from Steeda, messed up Bassani X-Pipes, non-fitting JBA headers, etc... this is just the last piece I can take.
Time for a beer ...

At this moment, he has over 30 hours of repair work 1) Building up 4 corners 2) Fixing the scoop nostriles @ $40/hour. This hood, for me , is not worth it for me.
So:
~$800 for the hood w/ shipping
~$1200 in repairs
~$700 for normal prep and paint.
Does a $2700 hood sound worth it ? Well, you don't have tohave it 'fixed' like I did - but you may be not as particular about the lines of the car that I am.
rhoover2, you have any cost yet ?
-Bryan
I still have NOT know the cost the body work, btu I would guess about $200 and $500 to paint.

i think will wait for the shaker hood to come out looks nicer .

No final estimate yet but I am thinking that after the re-fit and paint it will be adding at least 1k to the price. I do expect this hood to look like it was MADE for the car AFTER I get it back though. I am pretty fussy when it comes to fit and finish also. The shop that is doing the work on mine has won alot of trophies for his work and that is why I took my car to him..
Take it easy big guy. You have been a leader in the 05 Stang mod world. It will be worth it! I too have had problems with engine lights, gears, etc but, we also have some of the best Stangs on the road. Head up!
This is to Bryan by the way.

I feel for Bryan in a BIG way...He and I have been working in close contact on ours since day one, wanting to get the best car we can possibly afford to build. Having to see him spend nearly 3000 dollars on a HOOD through no fault of his own is really heartbreaking....he's definitely a Mustang lover considering he has had all these problems and still pushes on. He's dealt with the springs popping, x-pipe/cat wires not reaching, headers not working without further mods and parts required, multiple sets of mufflers to get the sound he wanted, and having a guy ruin the stripes he bought for the car originally! Put this 2700 bucks on top of all of that for a hood and it's a wonder he hasn't taken a flame thrower to some of these aftermarket companies. RKSport has some major making up to do with what he's had to spend on this hood. They need to make this right with him before taking money from many other TMS'ers (just my humble opinion). All of this goes to show how passionate he is as he's been willing to absorb a lot of adversity to get the end result he wants....The car will be amazing when ya finish it bro and I can only hope that the future holds much smoother mods for you. Thanks for being a guineau pig for so many of us by allowing us to avoid pitfalls and find out what these products look and perform like prior to us doing the spending ourselves....Talk to ya soon!

I spoke with Mo today about ordering this hood. He asured me no more problems with corners, fitment etc. It will be nice if this is all a fact. I think I will order it in the morning and join the club. Sorry to you guys that have had problems with this but, I looking forward to the pics.
