Gotta "rice" question
I agree with farmerjohn...is it a GT?...yes. Does it put down 350hp?...maybe. Is it really a GT350?...no. Do what you want, but you won't ever see it on mine.
Rice is rice, cool is cool, and doo doo is doo doo, be it an '89 Civic or a '05 Mustang.

I just now realized what your 'fauxbra' was.....I thought you had some type of clear bra on the front end. Man, I'm slow.......
I'm not sure if you want people to sit on your car....... :P

So, I guess getting a personalized plate saying "05GT350" is going too far, eh? Oh well, I guess I'm going too far. But, IMO if you put a cobra emblem on a Mustang that isn't a cobra, or even Mach 1 stripes on an '04 GT, that's going overboard. It's basically pretending to be something you aren't. They aren't going to make an '05 GT350 or maybe another one ever, so putting GT350 on your car and making it look like a '65 GT350 isn't necessarily going to far. It's more of a tribute, rather than a fake copy. Maybe it's too much for those who like to keep things simple and have a car like everyone else. But I personally see nothing wrong with it. As long as it is done right, it can look very nice. Fact is though that there are a heck of a lot worse things out there to do to a car then make it resemble a classic. And there are a heck of a lot more things out there to call rice than putting some GT350 (or GT300) rocker stripes on your '05 GT.

Since the new GT500 has come out and has the gt500 stickers on the rocker panels, wouldn't that make any of those types of "GT-whatever" stickers on any non-Shelby Cobra become instant "rice"?
Just checking before I order mine.

jwede,
I am going to do something totally new here. I struggled with the same thing. Knowing the history of where the name GT-350 and GT-500 came from makes it easy to justify what I am going to do. In case you didn't know the GT-350 was a made up name, by Mr. Shelby, based on the distance between the engine shop and the fab facility. The GT-500 was again totally made up. the 500 was used because it was a bigger number, than 350, and the car had more power than the 350.
Soooo... I am creating the GT-400. I am making this number up (Man I hope this doesn't exist) Why GT-400. Because the car it a GT and its modified beyond Stock and its a Non-Shelby.
Plus in the spirit of the muscle car, it gives m something the BS about over an ice cold beer!
I've been contemplating this for a long time, since before I got the car, I think I've finally come up with the answer. I've wanted to do a Shelby Clone since the car was first introduced, pulling styles from different years including modern feels on the car to keep with the theme that is a car built from all of the stangs of the past and so back to the original question I am now thinking about GT500T the T standing for Tribute, I was orignally thinking GT500R R being the first letter of my last name (and first) so as to say it is my creation, and R is common to see on a car and would blend in enough. Either way if and when I do this it will be only after the engine and the rest of the car can back it up, no way would I represent something that my car wasnt, it will spank a vette before that rocker panel stripe gets painted on.

Doesn't the "350" in "GT350" have more to do with the engine size then the horsepower? If I'm right in this thinking then people who sport the "GT3XX" stickers wouldn't be rice

GT 350s were so designated because the building they were built in was....... 350' from the office.... the GT500.... yep you guessed it, same reason.. you can look it up.
Nothing to do with HP or engine size.

I like the way you think.... you bought a car mod it how YOU want it. Lots of things look rice ( or as we Okies say hoser) to me like 20" rims, but hotrodding as I have said many times is about individuality. WHO cares if someone else doesnt like it.. or for that matter if they do. Make it yours. Make it individual.
