Got a question about my new spoiler
Got a question about my new spoiler
I ended up getting a GT500 style spoiler already painted off of ebay. I need to drill two holes and I'm pretty sure it uses at least one of the stock holes from my GT spoiler. My question is what do I do with the 2 extra stock holes?
It will use two of the four holes from the stock spoiler. I didnt do anything to mine, but I live in socal and rarely drive the car in the rain. The 3m tape is enough to keep mine dry. Others have cleaned the area real good, removing all wax etc... and put 3m tape over the hole. As far as the bolts on the ends of the spoiler, the ones that came with mine were to short. For locating the spot to drill. I installed the bolt on one side, filled it with toothpaste. Mounted the spoiler on the center two bolts, then pressed down on the end to transfer the toothpaste to the trunklid. Then repeat on other side. Also, when you do the final install, peel off a "leader" of the 3m tape and just snug the spoiler down. Then peel the leader off the 3m tape and tighten all bolts. Good luck with the install, its one of the best mods for the car.
Thanks for all the install advice guys. I don't drive in the rain usually but sometimes it happens. I think I'll use the tape method to cover the holes.
I thought about not drilling the two hole to just see how it would hold at first. The ends don't stick up from the trunk on yours?

I mounted mine with just the bolts to see how it would sit and drove it for a week or so. There was still a little bit of raise on the ends so I drilled the holes. Never thought I would take a drill bit to my car. Then I installed the spoiler and hood pins. Talk about pucker factor.
