Exclamation Giant Piles Of Salt!!!

My winter beater is down so i drove my car this winter.

We had a couple of good snows and a blizzard that left snow on the streets for 12 days.

I have sprayed the car down with the hose and flushed the wheel wells almost every day that it was above freezing.

I washed the car on sumday and flushed out all the normal places, behind the wheel wells ect.

Sunday I also installed my new silverstars and found
GIANT PILES OF SALT in front of both strut towers.

There is a seam that has a little opening at the top that evidently lets
road spray into the engine compartment. Im guessing that the heat from the engine helps the water evaporate leaving the formentioned salt.

For the guys who dont get under the hood much I thought that I'd say something.

Im going to flush the engine compartment tomorrow and I think I'll
take the front fender liners out and see how much stuff is piled up around there.

I don't blame you for wanting to get that salt out of there. I remember when I was growing up in NY, the salt would rust out the cars in a few years. Get out there and take care of your baby!

after it snowed about 1/10th of an inch and mine was incased in that ****, i decided to but my old car (95 grand marquis w/169k miles) back on the road and put the black beauty away for the winter. everyone i know says im nuts and that "a car is meant to be driven". i tell them, yes ur right, but since i want my car to be driven by me 20 years down the road (god willing), I cant and WONT drive it in the snow/salt/sand/ice filled roads. but i gotta tell you, my moth is WATERING waiting for a nice day to finally bust her out again.

NYC winters BLOW
