Fully Body Kit & Stripes Install Cost
I checked with my local body shop on the cost of installing and painting the Cervinis body kit with the stripes as shown. I was quoted close to $5,000. This includes removing the clear from existing panels and reclearing them so there will be no bevel between the paint and stripe. Is this necessary? Does this seem like a decent price? From the Cervinis site it looks to be in the ball park. Post your experiences.
Thanks
Jon

I don't have the Cervinis kit, I have the Street Scenes and also a CDC ducktail and I was quoted $1400 for everything, paint, install etc.
Are you getting the side pipes installed as well?
Also I'm not putting any stripes or anything either so I'm sure that's adding to your cost.

Thanks for the feedback. I am doing side exhaust, but I will be installing everything. I will bring them the box of panels to paint. They will paint them and return them to me. I will install everything, then bring it back to them for the stripes. I can't wait.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they take the parts off then paint them?? So I would think your panels would be paint base and stripes?? Then put back on, someone smarter than me clarify.......

Not necessarily true. My parts will be removed, painted and then reinstalled. Marked up for the stripes, removed, have the stripes painted and clearcoated and then reinstalled. It is the best way to get the stripes line up properly.
that sounds about right. the going rate in md is 55-80/hr for body labor depending on shop. Those fiberglass and eurethane body kits arent perfect. They must be blocked, primed, blocked again, any pinholes must be filled and spot primed, then final wetsanded, painted. Then wetsanded smooth, taped up for stripes, then repainted, wetsanded and buffed again. Plus Rand I. 5000 seems cheap especially for eurethane. I wouldnt do that kit for any less than that. None of them are perfect, they dont come, just scuff and shoot, it takes alot of work to get those nice, or your nto gonna like it, and you'lkl be like wtf!? Thats why it costs so much. Plus you have trail fitment of the body parts, drilling of holes, pproperly aligning the parts ( all of this comes before priming)
I'm definately begining to see the whole picture now. It's going to be a long process. Good thing I only live 1/2 mile from the shop. They do awesome work and I know that they will do it right. Thanks for all the feedback. I will release a write-up on the site in my sig as things come along.
