Does the license plate just screw into the front bumper or is there some kind of bracket that holds it on? I'm looking forward to seeing pics with the car having a license plate on the front.

It would have to be screwed into the bumper on the GTs. Here's a pic:

V6 has a recessed spot for the plate.

 

screwing right into the bumper is terrible because it messes up the bumper paint around the license plate. I wonder if you can get some kind of plastic holder for the plate to protect the paint.

 

hopefully the "plate" on that dealer car was a stuck on paper or carboard one.

I also agree, a proper bracket would be good for the GT. I can already see the ugly aftermath if I come too close to a snowbank in a parking lot in the winter. The plate will bend around the bumper and look ugly.

I saw the epitome of over-engineering on a volvo plate bracket. Instead of simply screwing it into the bumper they had this:

Two strips upper and lower with welded in nuts for the tag(which rust), its bent away so the nuts do not hit the bumper. It has two vertical ties together welded into place to hold them together so it looks like a roman numeral II. so that is at least 8 pieces of metal all welded. GUESS how they atatch it to the front of the car?


They simply screw the bracket into the plastic bumper just like a normal Ford tag. :bang: DUH.

 

I have also learned with my VAST automotive knowledge that running into things with the front of your car typically is NOT adviseable for maintaining a show-car finish. 600,000 miles and I have NEVER hit anything with a vehicle I did not INTENTIONALLY mean to hit. B)

 

And those things you intentionally hit? What of them?

 

thats a WHOLE different story...........dont ever brake-check a 4x4 with a huge winch and brush bar, I may take you up on the offer. :drive:

 

you could always just buy a ford license plate steel tag and use it as backing,that way im sure your plate wont bend...just a idea

LOL reminds me of the low riding ricer I ran over with my rear tires in my ranger. "I swear I couldn't see him officer." Lucky for me, the cop was thinking the same thing as me. For a stock height ranger to actually be able to ride up onto the front end of a car at less then 15 mph is ridiculous. I dinged my bumper, and totalled the right front end of theirs.

I have asked the dealer not to install the bracket when the get the car because I have a different plan for my front license plate.

 

Would it be possible to put it behind the "fangs" of the front grill? that way it would still be visibile and would not even touch the paint.

edit: How wide are the fangs apart anyways?
