firewall drain covers

Hi everyone, I'm curious how many of you have removed the rubber firewall drain covers or have left them in place? I imagine ford put them there to keep varmints out of firewall area. Thanks for your replies.

If we're talking about the same thing...I actually just cleaned mine out today. We're getting a lot of rain, and they were pretty stopped up with leaves/junk/etc.

I just clean mine out. Can't be havin' critters. But then, I also don't much park under trees and stuff, so there's that helpful bit in keepin' the channels cleared out.

Havin' a garage helps immensely.

Just cleaned mine out and changed the cabin air filter last week. Don't know if had ever been done before I bought the car or not, but the drains were pretty clean. I left them in place.
