Finished my SHR louvers
Finished my SHR louvers
After months of paintwork and many small things being worked/reworked at my body guys shop, we finally had the time last week to get the louvers finished. I think they look spectacular, really gives the back half of the car a more aggressive appearance. I did not take a close enough picture, but the rivets themselves are stainless buttonhead bolts that have been polished. The credit goes to my bodyshop man, though I did help him polish the bolts

DANG...thats one nice paintjob- is the inset areas shaded or just grey with shadows- looks awesome...rivets are a different touch.
q- estimate hours to paint? I painted my first set at home (in just one color), it was a royal pain to mask and still looked mediocre with the tapelines and such...I bet 4 hours plus just in masking, then all the blowback trying to paint deep in a pocket...difficult to say the least...did you airbrush the inset areas??? I think if I redo my original ones I might try that as the decreased CFM should allow spraying deeper without all the blowback/pebblegrain...
excellent job! ps- got a close up pic looking into the vents?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments
The rivets were an idea conceived by my paint guy. He is the reason the car looks the way it does. Well, I am the one who wrecked it, he's the one who fixed it
He suggested the rivets around the louvers, and I thought it would look good and be different. So he made it happen.
The insets of the louvers he painted flat black to go along with the trunk panel and the chin spoiler. What I think he did was paint the louver flat black, the masked the louvered portion and went back over with the body color/clearcoat. Only downside is the louvers are fully painted, no seeing out of them. That was done to avoid a huge tape line. But thats cool with me, the 4% window tint blocks more of my vision than those louvers ever could...
