Talking

It has actually been a couple weeks, but I've been to busy to post. But here it is finally . . .

I cut the rear springs to lower the rear 3/4 of an inch. To most, the change is not noticeable, but to me and a friend, it made all the difference. I have some before and after pics, but they are on my brother’s camera, and he can't seem to email them to me. I need to get the camera from him, but now he is on vacation. :bang: Oh well. If somebody wants to see them, drop me an email and I'll send them as soon as I can (1-2 weeks).

I had the louvers and blackout panel done by a guy named Ken Siwa. He operates a M.A.R.S. (Mobile Appearance Reconditioning Service) franchise next to the shop I work at. He is probably the nicest guy I have ever met. He does quality work, and is more interested in a happy customer and quality, than profit. He also did some minor collision work for me. There is his plug.

The original plan on the louvers was to put vinyl on to create the openings like the 3dCarbon louvers, but one of the guys who works for him (Tony) didn't want to do it that way. He thought it would look bad, so he masked it off, and painted each "opening." It looks fantastic. The black panel didn't fit perfectly around the medallion, so Ken laid some vinyl around the medallion to keep the blue from showing. From just a foot away, you would never know, and from 6 feet away, it looks like the back is painted, not covered in a plastic panel.

Sorry, the pics are not the greatest in the world. Pics just don't do it justice anyway. I know, the car is a little dirty, but it has been impossible to keep it clean for more than 2 days at a time.

So, wait - what louvres are those? They don't look like anything I've seen so far. Are they custom built?

Love the louvers! I haven't seen a '67-68 style set like those.

So that's only a 3/4" drop?
Looks like more from those angles.
I don't mean it in a negative way. I like how it looks and now I'm less worried about the 1" drop I want from the Steeda springs... rears only, of course.

The best looking louvers I've seen so far on an '05!!!
That's exactly the style I've been looking for!
Any chance I could order a set and have them shipped over the pond, down here in Holland?

P.S.: here's the closest I could find so far:

Wow, I'm worthy of a post by Brad. That's exactly why I got them, because they are close to the '68 style.

First time I saw them is when Ken stopped me and told me to come take a look at an '05 he had in the shop. It was silver and also had the rear window louvers. Like somebody else said, it looked like a tank.

Those are the two places I have seen them. Mine came from a catalog of suppliers, not sure which one because I never saw it.

California Mustang - Xenon blackout panel

Thanks again!

Did the rear blackout's cutout for the fake fuel filler leave gaps that show the body color? My kit's circle show's about 1/4" of red almost all the way around the filler. I wonder if there is some way I can black out the paint there...

As I said in my post, mine also did not fit right. I had the installer run some black vinyl pin-stripping around the emblem. I took him 60 seconds to do it, and you cannot tell there is a gap. Somebody asked me if it was painted.
