FENDER EMBLEM INSTALL

I just got a pair of Scott Drake "Powered By Ford" emblems to go on the front fenders of my G.T. What's the best way to install these and cover the holes and keep them level and straight?

They dont have pin guides? hmm if you have not taken off the stock ones you can use some tape across the top (or heck take the tape off them and slide them back on in their place (if they have two holes to ensure alignment) and then tape off the top edge then use that as a line guide for the new ones.

No guides; these just have double faced tape. Heavy emblem though, and seem to be good quality.

Like Brandon said just get some Blue painters tape and tape right on the top and bottom edge of the GT emblem and use those as a guide for the new emblem.

Actually I used refrigerator magnets , they're a little thicker than tape and they give the emblems something to sit on ...

Actually, I don't believe the older style PBF emblems covers the holes. The new ones do, but good luck finding them.

Here's a reference picture of the fender holes.

They do cover the holes. Mine are the small Scott Drake versions, similar to the ones seen on the Cobra roadsters. I just put a line of masking tape up the "G" on the GT emblem, then across the top of it as well, making the two strips perpendicular. Then, I peeled off the old emblems. That was the worst part of the job; that 3M double faced tape is like a weld! I managed to save one old emblem, but broke the other in two pieces. These new ones really look good, and cover the holes very well. Sorry, no pics, my ex got to keep the digital camera.

If you ever have to remove an emblem in the future, heat it up with a blow dryer. Then you can saw through the adhesive with a piece of fishing line. Works like a charm, and you won't break the emblem.

BTW, I have heard that those Scott Drake emblems may start fading in a year or so. If it's garaged, maybe they will last longer.

For removal, I use an old decal applicator- it's a 4" piece of plastic with slanted sides. It gets under the emblems very well. I still have both of my original GT emblems intact.
