Street Scene Equipment is about to start work on billet decklid medallions for 2005+ Mustang, and I personally think they'd look better if they didn't have the hole for the key.

It looks better with the pony than 'GT'. I swapped out my emblem for a V6 emblem.

I would like to have the option to not have the keyhole OR the F O R D

everyone knows its a ford anyway!!!
but I would like it to have the recess for the keyhole to still fit in the backside of the cover ...just in case!

I think they should look into making one with the concept tri-bar pony logo on it. All billet, except with the pony filled in with black, and the bars filled with their respective colors.

It would look good without the hole/ford, and with a running pony logo, with or without tri-bars, but not the concept one.

If there was no hole, where would I mount my rear view camera?

I hope they don't do the solid silver like the pic Brad posted. Looks much better with the black background.
Of course I prefer the '65 over the '66 look anyway. (I'm a little biased since I had a '65 for 15 years)

Whatever SSE does with the faux gas cap, I think they should make one without the hole for the trunk too. That way, you'd have the option. The one without the hole would look more like an actual gas cap. I have never used that key hole once. And by the looks of this poll, most haven't either. I would be willing to bet money that if SSE sold a faux gas cap with and one without the hole... the one without would outsell the one with.

I would prefer the tri-bar pony w/ keyhole

I like that too. And I also have a GT... so I just switched out the "GT" faux gas cap with the one from the V6 that has the tribar pony. You might want to do that.

Maybe its possible to make a badge with a small hinge so you could move it out of the way to acces the hole for the key. Though I don't know if it would be worth the added cost. My only concern would be that even for people who never use it, there may come a time when the remote doesn't work or they lose it, and i was to understand there was no access buttons inside the car.

I also like it with the tribar:

That looks good, but the pony is facing the wrong way.

I grabbed it from Brad's archive. Looks like the pony has gone both ways

The Mustang Source : Ford & Mustang Logos

Ok, here it is flipped, and also with a plain brushed background:
