Fatter tires out back

Sooner or later, I will have to replace my Nitto 275/40s I am running out back... (probably sooner)

I have always wanted something a bit taller in the rear (but not sacrifice width/contact patch) to fill up the wheel well more.....

My issue - I see that Nitto now has a 285/40/18, so I am trying to decide between that and their 295/45/18s, which I have already thrown around for a while now...

My issues:
I am running nine inch rims. The Discount Tire guy told me the 295s would fit on the 9 inch rim. So I was leaning towards those - I don't mind the car getting a bit more of a forward rake again... the only issue is, on the Nitto size chart on their site when comparing sizes, the overall diameter they have listed was done on a ten inch wheel. Naturally I would guess running the tire on a nine inch, would make the tire sit a bit higher still. So I don't want TOO much extra height in the back....

I have seen a handful of guys with Nitto 295s out back but they are all running 10 inch rims....

So I keep coming back to getting the 285s because I really can't afford another set of rims for the rear just to get those 295 tires....

Anyone running really fat meat on a nine inch rim here and if so what kind??

You know you want the 295's I don't see how putting the tire on a 9" vs 10" wheel would affect the overall height of it(?)

I have heard from The Discount Tire guy as well, that 305/45R18 on the rear will work if the car has not been lowered, but you have to watch steep grades so I am guessing it would be close there is a 1.2" difference in overall diameter between the two and the Steeda springs lower our cars 1.25"
