Fang Trunklid Ducktail installed

Hello everydody. I just got the car back yesterday and took a few quick shots of the tail. The shop did a great job and it looks awesome! Cost about $1100 to prep, paint and install. I figured that was about right. Next month will come a Fang Mystery 7 hood and a CDC chin spoiler to follow. Thanks to everybody on this site for ideas and such. It's a great time to be a Mustang owner.

Rich

VERY COOL!!! I read you are getting their hood. Are you also doing the front fascia extention as well (for the 68 GT500 look)?

For 05FordGT

I was originally going to get the Mystery 8, which is the "gt500 look" front fascia, but after long thought, I have really moved to the Mystery 7 hood and front extensions instead. I've been torn between the two styles all year long while Fang worked on getting them to the public. They both look great. Personally, for the look I'm going for, I think the Mystery 8 will make the car look a little to front heavy. A little unbalanced cosmetically. I like the "mean" look of the Mystery 7, which Cervinis makes a VERY similar version too.

Thanks everybody for the comments. It's my first experience with fiberglass.

Thanks for the info. Can't wait to see the Mystery 7 project completed.

Looks good!
But yeah, high price indeed.

$135 to prep, paint and install my cdc ducktail, and chinspoiler.
Granted I knew the guys at the body shop(we do thier alignments) 1100 is way to high.

Just so everyone is on the same sheet of music. He didn't add a ducktail to his factory trunk. He replaced his whole trunk with a Fang one that has a ducktail built into it. Hence the reason for the higher price.

Ok, makes sense, I guess. But why buy a whole trunk for a ducktail?

I hear ya, it's expensive.

I had the stock trunk with the OEM spoiler. I wanted a ducktail, but didn't want to remove the OEM spoiler and have it filled/painted for the CDC. Not that the CDC or others like it are not awesome, but I was worried about those filled holes over time starting to show through the paint. Also, just personally, I liked the way the Fang ducktail curved.

Gotcha, makes sense. I was not aware of the Fang setup like that.

The vast majority of mustang GTs sold have the spoiler. If you want the look of a CDC or Street Scene ducktail, you have to figure out what to do with the holes once you remove the spoiler. While expensive, this option from Fang does fit the bill.

Yea, a little over 2 grand

Yea, I know...it's bucks. I try not to think about it, licking my wounds from that expense, but it's my baby, I'm real happy with it. It's really thick around the tail lights, which I like. Makes for a very chiseled look. Funny thing, I usually feel sick after buying some big ticket item, but not this time. You know, the buyers remorse thing. I think, because I knew it was what Ford should have done in the first place with the car, I felt justified. Hehehehe.

I don't get it? The trunk is one piece with the ducktail molded on? Are the side pieces then stuck on ala CDC and Street Scene? If so then I would have probably opted for filling the holes and going with the CDC or SS. JMO~
