Check this out from Fang Performance. It is a new hood with a bolt on scoop. Click on the shaker section to read about it. Kind of pricey but at least it's another alternative as far as hoods and functional scoops go.

I don't believe that you can just buy the scoop. It's a package deal that comes with the Fang Hood, hence the price. You need the hood in order to make it functional. The hood has ducts in it that route the air to the airbox area (see hole in bottom side of hood on the right side).

They originally designed it for V6 owners since their Shaker doesn't work with the V6, but this one will also work on a GT.

I believe you are correct - the bottom of the scoop is contoured to match the Fang hood, so it won't fit properly on a stock hood...

My guess is that it (the hood) may not be braced to take the stresses that hood struts may induce.
