Exterior mods to my 08 SGT

Excluding the quarter window trim and lower grille I had done at the Shelby Autos mod shop prior to delivery.

Spent a whopping $19.99 on this mod but it makes the car look much better.

Shorty antenna from americanmuscle.com.

Has the shorter antenna affected the radio reception at all? It does look very cool.

It is a start. The full length antenna is definately an eye sore. I went with the $120 fill the hole, no antenna option. Pictures soon

I went with the 8" shorty antenna. This is what I have noticed regarding reception. Any area where I had bad reception (as in the radio stations came in but were either slighty fuzzy or faded in and out) I now have no reception. In areas where I had good/full reception before, I still have good/full reception with no drop off or fuzziness. Overall, I have alot better reception that I thought I would.

I had the same question for the friend that recommended it. He also has the 14" version, and said he tested the original antenna and new shorty from various locations and noticed zero difference.

All I've done so far is go in the garage and check out all my programmed stations. They all came in clear as a bell.

I got the 14" version from http://www.americanmuscle.com/mustan...y-antenna.html .

I noticed that in the details for the 14" it says "...yet still retain excellent radio reception". It doesn't say that for the 8" version, but s197 V6 just gave you testimony on that version above.

Had the 14" from American muscle on my coupe and worked fine. On my vert I removed the ball tip, cut the stock to 14" and drilled the hole in the ball to fit. Works fine also.

I cut mine down with a hack saw to be in line with the body-line and I still get great reception

I went with the 14 inch, although when I go 75+ it whistles...I think the best way is to mod out the factory antenna, since it will not whistle.

Please share how you got this done for $120. I want to get mine filled and if it's around that price it would be definately worth it. I thought about making a plate to place in the hole but would prefer it filled.

My car is at a Ford Body shop due to my recent accident. The manager said that it is 3 hours labor @ $40 per hour for the antenna fill and paint labor. I am not sure if the paint cost is on top of this, but its supposed to be 3 coats of vista blue, 3 coats of clear. They welded a plate underneath the fender and some plastic that was sanded on top to the curve of the fender. I got the two holes on each side where the GT fenders used to be filled for $40 total for both sides. The paint booth cost is covered by my insurance since the fenders had to be replaced anyway.

Hey Mark, what are you doing in my garage? I have that exact window trim on my garage doors, and I also have an '05 and a '96 GT (maybe yours is a '97 or '98, can't tell), but my son-in-law is driving the '96 now. After seeing your two ponies together, I might ask for it back.

I compliment you on your choice of cars and garage doors. Just shows great minds run in similar circles

Thanks. Mine is a 96GT

Here's some more shots I got of the antenna today. It was a relatively nice day so I washed the car prior to these shots.

Here's some pix of my car with it's next exterior mod. Mirror covers.

I know many prefer the full covers, but I've always preferred the two tone look.

Not an exterior mod, but a friend sent me one of those "EJECT" buttons

Let everyone know what you do on the mirror upgrades -- and how the paint matches. That's on my future list too. The Shelby looks great.
